Our Second Year

In our first year, we were light,
Laughter filled each day and night.
But slowly, time slipped away,
Lost in routine’s gentle sway.

We came home from work so late,
Watched series as the pots cooked,
We spoke, but didn’t truly speak -
The things we felt, day by day.

Then came the storm we didn’t choose,
A night of rage, with all to lose.
We broke down walls, we bared our souls,
Stripped of pretense, spoke our whole.

From that fight, we found our way,
Built love back, day by day.
Now stronger, clearer, unafraid,
Our love reborn, like a phoenix.

Even now, work calls, and dishes await,
But through the chores, I still find you.
You see me fully, I see you too,
Our love feels simple, deep, and free.

This second year, we faced our fears,
Confronted demons, shed our tears.
Now here we stand, stronger than then -
Bound not just as lovers, but as friends.

Here’s to us, to battles won,
To love renewed beneath the sun.
Happy anniversary, my love,
My friend, my heart ❤️
