The two of them reconciled and had dinner together. Although Lisa seemed to warm up to him, she was still worried in her heart: he made her jealous just to provoke her and force her to throw herself into his arms. She had never been with him before, and she had never been with him in the evening, but she chose this moment to be with him, sacrificing herself in vain. He would definitely not appreciate it and would think that she had fallen into his trap. She could never dream of him marrying her....

It was obvious that he wanted her, but he didn't want to marry her.

However, although her family was poor, it was still a prominent family, and they were all well-known people. He couldn't bear the charge of seduction. So he took that open and above-board attitude.

She knew now that it was completely a false excuse. He tried to shirk responsibility everywhere. If she was abandoned in the future, she would definitely have no one to complain to.

When Lisa thought of this, she gritted her teeth and uttered a hateful cry. She still went along with him as usual for the sake of face. Mrs. Lee had already rented a house in Happy Valley and was about to move in. Lisa wanted to go with her, but she felt embarrassed to stay longer after disturbing her for more than a month. It was not a good idea to continue the stalemate. She was in a dilemma and was hesitant.

That day, late at night, she had been in bed for a long time, just tossing and turning. After a while of being drowsy, the bedside phone suddenly rang loudly. When she listened, it was Jungkook's voice, saying, "I love you," and then hung up. Lisa's heart was pounding, and she held the headset, stunned for a moment, and then gently put it back to its place. Who knew that the phone rang again as soon as she put it back. She picked up the receiver again, and Jungkook asked on the other end, "I forgot to ask you, do you love me?"

Lisa coughed and spoke again, her throat was still hoarse. She whispered, "You should have known it long ago. Why did I come to Hong Kong?" Jungkook sighed, "I knew it long ago, but I just refused to believe the obvious facts. Lisa, you don't love me."

Lisa asked, "How do you know I don't?" Jungkook said without saying anything for a long time, "There is a poem in the Book of Songs..."

Lisa said hurriedly, "I don't understand this." Jungkook said impatiently, "I know you don't understand. If you did, there would be no need for me to explain it to you! I'll read it to you: 'Life and death are inseparable - I will be happy with you, hold your hand, and grow old with you.' My Korean is not good at all, but I don't know if my explanation is correct. I think it is the saddest poem. Life, death and separation are all big things that are beyond our control. Compared with the power of the outside world, we humans are so small, so small! But we insist on saying: 'I will be with you forever, and we will never leave each other for the rest of our lives.' - As if we can make the decision ourselves!"

Lisa pondered for a long time, and could not help but get annoyed and said: "Why don't you just say you don't want to get married? Why do you have to beat around the bush? What can't you make the decision for? Even a conservative family like me still says 'First marriage, follow your relatives; second marriage, follow yourself'! You are such a free-spirited person, who can't make the decision for you?"

Jungkook said coldly: "If you don't love me, what can you do? Can you make the decision?" Lisa said: "If you really love me, would you care about these?"

Jungkook said: "I'm not that confused. I don't have to spend money to marry someone who has no feelings for me to control me. That's too unfair. It's not fair to you either. Oh, maybe you don't care. You think marriage is just long-term prostitution-"

Lisa didn't wait for him to finish, and threw down her headphones with a snap, her face flushed with anger. He dared to insult her like this! He dared! She sat on the bed, the hot darkness wrapped around her grape purple velvet blanket. She was sweating and itchy, and the hair on her neck and back was prickling. She put her hands on her cheeks, but her palms were cold.
