David Cater was a well-known reporter, he had interviewed one of the biggest names in the world, with light brown skin, freckles scattered around his face, sky blue eyes and black hair, he was also called charming for his appearance and politeness.
One day, David was invited to go to one of the events of the one and only, Kamila Al-Jamil, but he wasn't there for her, he was there for the host.
"I would say, Tahani, there are many of events for your sister, but how about you?" David asked, he looked around, hearing the chatter and laughter of the guest in the air, he turned back to Tahani Al-Jamil, known for her elegance and well....her sister.
Tahani scoffed lightly, flicking her wrist dismissively. "Oh, please. I have plenty of my own events. Just last week, Beyoncé invited me to a private soirée, and before that, I was the guest of honour at George Clooney's villa in Lake Como."
David raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. "That's lovely and all, but it has nothing to do with you, does it? All I hear are other people's names. What about, you know, Tahani Al-Jamil?"
Tahani's smile flattered for just a moment, but she quickly recovered, "and who, pray tell, are you to question me?" Tahani asked,
David extended his hand, "David Carter, David meaning 'beloved', Carter meaning 'one who transports goods by cart or wagon'—though it's not as dazzling as yours, I will admit." His tone was light, yet there was a deeper sincerity underneath.
Tahani blinked, clearly taken backed by the way he explained his name, she smiled and shook his hand, "Tahani Al-Jamil meaning 'congratulations, beautiful'. Thanks, you're a big flirt." She replied.
David chuckled, "maybe I am," David responded playfully with a wink.
David held Tahani's gaze, a spark igniting in both of them, but it stopped quickly as Kamila jumped between them, "hey!" Kamila said, "you're the reporter, right?"
"Y-yeah! That's me," David stammered, taken back from the interruption.
Kamila grinned, "just in time!" She said, turning David around and guided him to a group of guests, leaving Tahani there.
Tahani couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy, with a huff, she walked away, David turned back and watched Tahani's retreating figure disappear in the crowd, his expression softened. There was something about her that intrigued him—something more than the perfect image she projected. He couldn't put his finger on it, but as she disappeared into the crowd, he knew it wouldn't be the last time their paths crossed.
