Groira left Durotan and me alone that evening and together we watched the sunset. I rested my head on his arm. I heard him huff, I looked up at him, "What?"
"Nothing," he said turning to me and gently stroking a large finger over my features. "It's just nice to enjoy the peace for once instead of constant conflict." I nodded in agreement.
"It is indeed," I said. He put his large arm around me and pulled me closer to him. I was slightly surprised and looked up at him. "You don't need to do that."
"I want to," he says looking down at me. "I can let go if you want me to?"
"No, it's fine, Im kinda enjoying stealing the warmth from you," I giggle.
"Is that all I'm good for? Giving off heat for you to steal?" He said looking down at me and gently stroking my face again being as gentle as he could.
"How honest do you want me to be?" I tease.
"Always," he smiles and chuckles heartily. We both look out at the sunset together, I let out a yawn trying to disguise it. "Are you still not sleeping?" I shake my head.
"I still have nightmares about returning home to Stormwind and I am just met with brutality," I run a hand down my voice.
"Mm," he huffs, his gaze trained on the sun. "I guess you are more Orc than human now, it looks good on you little one," he said and turned his head to look down at me. I blush and try to hide it.
"You know you're the first being to ever pay attention to me," I said and played with the laces on my gauntlets. He raises his eyebrows as he is surprised.
"Why? You may not be Orc but you're beautiful!" He says.
"I'm no one important and I am not royalty," I say looking down somewhat ashamed at my position.
"That shouldn't matter!" He said, "Princess or not you deserve to be recognised for you," he said and leaned down to gently kiss my head being careful of his tusks. "Maybe you need an Orc mate, not a human one?" He chuckles.
"Maybe," I said giving him a sad smile.
"Hey," he said, "where's that pretty smile gone?" I shrug.
"Forget about your worries and just enjoy this evening with me," he said. He pulled me closer to him. "Enjoy the now, just focus on this moment and us, don't think about anything else."
"I never thought I'd be sat, cuddled up to an Orc and watching the sunset together," I said thinking of the countless Orcs I had slain thinking of them as scary, unpredictable beasts but now here I was sitting with an Orcs arm around me stealing his heat.
"Would you want to leave and go back home to your human world?" He asks me.
"I mean I miss home, and I miss my friends but it has been very liberating to be away and see a different culture I had grown so used to," I reply honestly.
"That's a good way to look at it," he says leaning down to kiss my head again. The moment it went dark we watched the fireflies together for a little while longer before returning to camp.
