Jungkook stirred, his head throbbing as he drifted into consciousness. The world around him was dim and unfamiliar, the faint glow of a single overhead light casting soft, wavering shadows on the walls. His lashes fluttered open, and the first thing he noticed was warmth—strong, steady, and terrifyingly close.
He froze, his breath catching in his throat as he registered the arm draped securely around his waist, the gentle rise and fall of someone else's chest pressed against his back. His body stiffened, panic gripping him when a familiar scent reached his nose—citrus and woodsmoke, unmistakably Taehyung.
Jungkook’s heart raced as memories flooded back in jagged fragments: Taehyung’s smirk, the sharp tang of the cloth pressed against his face, and his muffled protests before the world went black. He realized now, with a sickening certainty, that he wasn’t safe.
“Awake so soon?” a deep, smooth voice murmured behind him, the sound vibrating through the body pressed against his.
Jungkook flinched as Taehyung’s arm tightened around him, pulling him closer. He felt trapped, caged by the sheer strength in that simple movement. “Taehyung,” Jungkook whispered hoarsely, his throat dry. “What...what is this? Why am I here?”
Taehyung shifted slightly, his chin resting lightly against Jungkook’s shoulder. The gesture was disturbingly intimate. “You’re here because this is where you belong,” he replied, his tone soft but laced with an unnerving possessiveness. “With me.”
Jungkook swallowed hard, his voice shaking as he asked, “What did you do to me? Why did you—”
“Shh.” Taehyung’s hand moved, his fingers brushing a strand of hair from Jungkook’s face. The touch was almost tender, but it sent a shiver of fear down Jungkook’s spine. “Don’t be afraid, Jungkook. You’re safe now. No one will hurt you here.”
“This isn’t safety!” Jungkook snapped, his voice rising as he struggled against the arm holding him in place. “This is insane, Taehyung! Let me go!”
Taehyung’s grip didn’t loosen. Instead, he let out a low chuckle, the sound devoid of humor. “Let you go?” he repeated, his tone darkening. “After everything I’ve done for you? After all the time I’ve spent making sure you were protected, cared for...loved?”
“Love?” Jungkook spat, twisting in Taehyung’s hold to face him. His wide eyes met Taehyung’s, and the intensity in the man’s gaze made his blood run cold. “This isn’t love. This is obsession!”
Taehyung’s expression flickered, a shadow of something unreadable crossing his features before his lips curled into a small, unsettling smile. “Call it what you want,” he said softly. “But you’re mine now, Jungkook. No one will ever take you away from me.”
Jungkook’s chest tightened, panic clawing at him as he realized just how unyielding Taehyung’s resolve was. He tried again to pull away, but Taehyung’s strength was impenetrable.
“You don’t understand,” Jungkook whispered, his voice cracking. “You can’t just...keep me here. People will notice I’m gone. They’ll come looking for me—”
“No one will find you,” Taehyung interrupted, his voice calm but firm. “I’ve taken care of everything.”
The finality in his words stole the breath from Jungkook’s lungs. He felt the sting of tears welling in his eyes as despair began to creep in.
