Ugh. This bright light is killing me! Where am I...?

He looked around the bright area. It is nothing more than a vast white space. It's too empty to even be called an area. He doesn't know how they got here, or who they are, but he certainly doesn't like it.

"If this is some prank, I swear..."

He stood up immediately and looked around one last time before he started to walk. He was a few steps away from where he was when suddenly a brighter entity appeared in front of them. It was so bright, he couldn't make out anything other than a human-like figure with wings. He can't even see the entity's face.

"Ack!"

"You are awake. Good..."

"W-who...who are you!?"

He was confused when the entity summoned a floating cube. It then tossed the cube above him, and it circled around the guy, scanning him. It then summoned a small digital screen that showed numerous data.

"Analysis complete. Soul is fit and appropriate for the project."

"Hey! What's this about!?"

"Hm? Apologies. I got carried away. I have not given you the details."

"And you just ignored me. Great."

"Okay to start off, you are created for a project involving the mortals. You are a soul we created to fill in the body of a boy who lost his light."

"Wait, what?"

"Now, the light I am referring to is the living essence of life and energy. The very core of every living thing's existence. It is very important as it helps keep the balance of life, death, and energy in the universe. When a person dies, that light is lost and replaced with darkness, balancing out the light they have in them."

"This guy is nuts..."

"Recently in this millennia, children are prone to killing themselves due to the harsh and cruel nature of life and society."

"I wonder why..."

"Because their light isn't fully developed there is not enough energy for the universe to be sustained. Light is needed to keep the balance of this world, and children's premature light isn't enough. That's where the problem resides. So we have come up with a solution that will restore this balance."

"Are we seriously skipping past the whole, children are dying because adults can't see why life is hard for them?"

"Yes."

"Damn."

"Back to the matter at hand, as I said, you are a soul we created for Project Reviving Light. You will be placed in the body of a kid who had just lost his light. Your task is simply to become him. Act like him, speak like him, behave like him. You have only a year to fit in and become him, and restore the light that was lost from his body."

"Isn't this ille-"

"To start this off, I will be telling you about the boy you are going to be."

Ugh. Never mind. I should stop asking questions about the morality of this. The entity is ignoring me.
