"GUYS!!! I had the best day ever!!!" Avery says excitedly after bursting into our dorm room. Surprising, really as at Rosefield High there isn't much going on.
"What happened?" Alexis says curiously, matching Avery's excited tone like she does with all of us when we are happy about something. That's why Alexis is my best friend. I couldn't ask for anyone better, she's the kindest person I have ever met and I don't doubt it will stay that way forever.
Me, Ayesha and Alexis all sit up and listen as Avery starts rambling about her day, slumping down in the plush chair at the her desk. "So first, Collin and I were partnered up together in biology so we got to talking and he asked if I wanted to hang out after classes ended! Of course I said yes so we went to the park and talked for ages!! I think he's starting to like meeee!" her words spill out, obvious she's been waiting to tell us about this all day.
Avery has had a crush on Collin, for so long now but she has always been too scared to make a move In fear of being rejected so she waited until the day he did and I guess today was that day.
"And then when we came back to Rosefield, he went off with his friends so I was heading up here to our dorm and-" suddenly she's cut off by a knock on the door, her excited chatter dissipating momentarily as I get up to open it.
Standing outside is Mr Harland. " Hello girls. " he says in a dull voice. "I just came to let you know tommorow we are getting some new students and you will be getting two new dorm mates." I hear the girls gasping excitedly behind me. "I expect you will welcome them kindly." he says with a smile. "Of course." I say kindly and then he walks away. I close the door and spin round to see the girls all grinning widely. "OMGGG, this is so excitinggg!!" Alexis squeals. "Right!! We haven't had any new students in forever." Ayesha adds. They all jump up and down excitedly and I join them, also excited for new dorm mates.
The dorms in Rosefield High each fit six students but since our dorm only have four of us, it's no surprise that the new students will be joining us. "We should tidy our dorm guys, so we can make a good first impression." I say as I pick up some shoes strewn across the floor and place them on our shoe rack.
The girls mutter excitedly to each other as they help me tidy but I'm lost too deep in my thoughts to listen. Sure, getting new dorm mates is exciting but it's also more people I have to hide my true self from.
