Plimoth Patuxet is a living museum/replica village of how they lived, with characters dressed as settlers, working in their homes and gardens The area includes a replica Wampanoag site. The Wampanoag are the native American people of the area. I learned that European traders had been trading with Native Americans for years before the Pilgrims landed. These traders brought diseases that almost wiped out the Wampanoag, but I was told there are now around 5000 Wampanoag people living in the area. This site was used in the opening scene of the movie Hocus Pocus starring Bette Midler in 1993.
