After a week, Charlie awoke from his coma. It was a surprise to all and not even the doctors expected him to wake up this early. It was a miracle. Celia was the first visitor after he woke up, but there was something different about him.
After the doctors recognized the confusion written all over Celia's face, they doctors took her outside the room to explain the odd situation.
"He had some brain damage after he fell to the floor after being shot and... his memory isn't the best."
She furrowed her brows at the doctors, "What do you mean? Like he hit his head too fast or something?"
"Too hard. The blow of the gun really knocked him back, and his skull was damaged pretty badly."
She was skeptical. Shit, Celia was there at the scene, his head wasn't even bleeding.
But she couldn't argue with the doctors, "Okay.." She sighed, "What does he remember?"
"Well, he remembers who he is, thankfully. But all of his long term memories are practically wiped. He can't remember any of his family members names."
Celia pinches the bridge of her nose, closing her eyes tightly as her jaw clenches, "Fantastic. So I am assuming he doesn't know who I am?"
The doctor nods.
She purses her lips, "Cool so... now what?"
The doctor goes on to explain the recovery process of an injury like this. Of course, he will have to stay in the hospital a little longer in order to monitor his well-being, but specialists will occasionally be coming in to try and help with his memory. Hopefully, in another week, he still be cleared to go home.
But maybe this was a good thing. If Charlie had no memory of the last few months, he is practically innocent of all charges. He had no chance of recollecting what their plan was, therefore, it never happened.
Maybe, this was Celia's chance to make everything go back to normal. Yes, this was it.
She made a promise to herself in that moment that when Charlie gets back to normal, they will completely leave the church, and even this town. They needed to start anew. Again. Of course this was exhausting for Celia, but hopefully this time they could still to it. Never again does she want to go down the road they had gone down for the last few months.

After a few weeks and help from nurses, Charlie's memory was slowly starting to get better. He would actually name is mother's name and Celia, and thankfully, after the help, he remembered that she was his wife. What he didn't remember though, was the months and months of murders he had committed. Mainly because the nurses didn't know either, therefore, they weren't able to help him remember them.
Charlie was finally cleared to go home after he woke up, so Celia picked him up quickly, then went 15 over on the way home. Charlie was now a burden in her life because of what they had pursued together. She didn't trust Megan with keeping Charlie (and Celia's) name out of her mouth so she needed to move quickly.
"Get packed." She snapped as she put the car into park.
"What?"
"I said get packed. We are leaving tomorrow morning."
He looked at her, his brows furrowed inwards, "We can't just leave. I have a responsibility here. The people depend on me."
"Welp. I'm sure they will survive. Now get out and start packing your shit."
He finally shuts up, getting out of the car slowly then walking up to the door. It was quiet for the rest of the night, Celia watching Charlie with a glass of wine in hand as he slowly and painfully packed all his clothes into large suitcases.
