Location: A quiet, moonlit park,
several years ago
The air was cool, with the scent of wet grass and rain lingering in the evening breeze. Aurora and Liam sat on the old wooden bench, their hands intertwined, hearts beating in sync. It was their last summer before college, the last time they would be together without the pressures of life pulling them in different directions.
"I promise, Aurora," Liam said, his voice low and serious, as he squeezed her hand. "I’ll always be there for you. No matter what happens, you and I… we’re in this together."
Aurora looked at him, her eyes soft and trusting. He was her everything—her first love, her best friend, the one person who made her feel like the world was hers to conquer.
"You’re all I need, Liam," she whispered back. "I want to be with you forever."
Liam smiled, a smile that seemed to glow in the dim light, his eyes full of warmth and assurance. "Forever, Aurora. I swear it."
But little did she know, those words would soon be shattered, leaving behind a different version of herself—a version that had learned the hard way that promises were made to be broken.
