Instead of having fun, Mia and Zoey were trapped in their own company's fashion boutique, not because of work but to get them ready for the night that neither of them planned for or desired.

"Fuck your cousin "Zoey angrily cursed

"That scumbag" Mia rolled her eyes.

"Where are we even going?"

"I don't know "

After hours of makeup and hair doing the fashionistas finally finished.

It was a few minutes to seven. They both were wearing chic outfits with heels that elegantly clicked on the floor.

When they stepped out of the building, Keegan was there smoking while leaning on his car. When he noticed them, he quickly threw the stub away. He was dressed in a nice black suit. With his hair messy. Zoey gave Mia a quick glance and found herself blushing.

"At least try to hide it. Damn Mia you have a thing for Keegan, " she whispered and laughed. Mia just shot her a glare and elbowed her in the stomach.

"Ouch, watch it, young lady,"

Keegan walked up to them and checked Mia out.

"Not bad," he said

"Shall we go? " 'I don't like being a third wheel,' Zoey wanted to say but decided against it as she didn't know how Keegan felt for Mia. Even if she could never be happy with Dante, she still wished the best for her best friend, and she'd help her find her true love.

They got into the car, and upon arrival, Keegan took Mia's hand and led her in. Just as Zoey wanted to go in she was blocked by someone.

"Hello princess" Selena said

Zoey was in no mood to deal with her. She just smiled and said,

"Hello Selena "

"You think you have Dante right you wreck? You don't know me Zoey just..."She kept going on and on

Zoey felt tired. Why did Selena always bug her about Dante while the guy didn't even love either of them.

"Shut up shut up shut up Selena! I've met a lot of ungrateful people, but you surpass them all. Selena, let me tell you this, I never grew up like you people. I'm from a small town and had large debts. Out of the blue, the debt collectors said they want 50% interest. That 50% was worth 100 million dollars. I just ran to the person who offered to help me, and that's your dear cousin. I didn't want this. After you told me that he had forgotten me, I tried to live my life. I actually thought that I'd end up with Lionel, if not some other random stranger, but yet again, fate played a cruel joke on me. Selena, I didn't ask for any of this. Honestly, all I ever wanted was to be happy, something that i don't remember being in my entire life. When you were with Dante, he loved you, but you left him for another man who still loves you. Selena, my momma, though she's six feet underground, always taught me to be grateful for all I am. I'm not superficial, but you Selena, imagine that Dustin gets to know that you're running after your ex and leaves you. Clearly, Dante won't take you back. What will happen them. Don't ruin your life over the past, Selena. If I were you, I would be grateful that karma didn't play me and just be happy with Dustin. Be grateful Selena, be grateful for the 'little' things you have before you are left with nothing. "

Selena stood there speechless,  it seems like Zoey's words hit a chord.

"I don't want any beef with you, Selena. Just be grateful. Gratitude isn't a burdening emotion. Never let the things you want make you forget about the things you have. Learn to appreciate what you have before time makes you appreciate what you've lost." She said and stormed into the building, leaving Selena to reflect on her words.
