Chapter 6: Friendship Matters

{Joey's POV}

Oh my god... How am I going to tell Daniel that Shane still has feelings for me? I mean, he was already jealous of Shane, now he'll be raging because we're engaged. When the ambulance took Shane away, I sat on the front steps. Then Daniel came up and put his arms around me.

Daniel: Hey Joey, are you ok?

Joey: What? Oh... umm.. yeah.

Daniel: Come on Joey, something's eating at you.

Joey: Promise you won't get mad?

Daniel looked suspicious at first.

Daniel: Yes Joey.

Joey: Ok... Daniel... Shane told me... he.. he told me...

Daniel: Spit it out Joey! What did he tell you?

Joey: Daniel... he told me he loved me.

At first, Daniel looked really hurt. He put his head down. I put my hand on his shoulder.

Joey: Look Dan, I'm gonna go down to the hospital and explain to him that you're the only one I love. Besides, July right?

He looked up and smiled.

Daniel: July.

He kissed my cheek.

Joey: I think I should head down to the hospital now and explain to him what's going on.

Daniel: Ok babe. I love you.

I turned from my car and I smirked at him, followed by a wink.

Joey: I love you too.

I blew him a kiss and I was off to the hospital.

{Shane's POV}

Ever had that feeling that you just got stabbed in the stomach?... yeah... me too. I was laying in my bed after surgery when a nurse came in.

Nurse: Mr. Dawson, you have a visitor.

I opened my eyes and smiled.

Shane: Hey Joey.

Joey: Hi Shane. Could you excuse us for a minute?

Nurse: Sure thing.

She smiled then she left. Then Joey came and sat on the bed next to me.

Shane: So Joey, what brings you here?

Joey looked really nervous.

Joey: Um Shane? I really need to talk to you.

Shane: Ok Joey. Are you ok? You look really nervous.

Joey: Oh, yeah I'm ok. Um, listen Shane, you and I are good friends... and we dated once, but I've moved on. And I think you should too.

Shane: Joey? What are you talking about?

Joey: When you said "I love you" before they took you away. Don't you remember that?

Shane: Yes, but you do realize that friends can tell friends I love you right?

Joey blushed.

Joey:.... I feel stupid.

Shane: Why?!

Joey: Because here I was thinking that you still had feelings for me, when you just said it as a friend.

Shane: Joey it's ok. Don't worry about it. You love me don't you?

Joey: Of course I do! You just caught me off guard that's all.

Shane: Good, because our friendship means so much to me.

Joey: Yeah... me too.

We both looked at each other for a minute. Joey scooted closer to me. Something felt different, there was some sort of tension in the room, the good kind. Before I could think of anything else, Joey's lips were on mine. He has these soft, plump lips that anyone could just melt into. I then heard a voice, and my heart shatter as Joey realized what he was doing.

X: Shane? How could you?

Joey: Oh my god... Shane.... I.. I... I gotta go.

He ran out. I can't believe what I just did....
