"Dad! Do I have to milk Mable?" pleaded Miranda, "I don't even like milk, anyway!"
"Yes! Uncle Joe won't be back for another 2 hours and we are running low on milk to feed Simon."
Simon was Miranda's baby brother and he had been born premature. The family lived in the picturesque countryside on a plentiful piece of farmland. It was evening and the sweet song of the cuckoo could be heard from a distance as the summer sun shone brightly on the fields. The family were running low on food as the drought had taken over so instead of cars and tractors (which required fuel) the family used horse carriages to save money. Uncle Joe had gone shopping into the neighboring city to buy water and other supplies.
After milking Mable, the cow, Miranda strolled along the patchworks of clover and looked up into the prawn - pink sky. I sure wish I could go up there and touch the stars, she thought to herself while pointing at the faint figure of the Moon. It was turning twilight - almost dinner time! She ran across the orchard (her uncle had come back with tacos, which were her favorite snack) when she noticed a shadow on the corn sheaves. It was shaped round like a saucer; a figure was sticking out. Could it possibly be...?
