The dropship landed on the ground about three weeks ago. The one hundred kids started building a camp, with wooden walls, a fire camp, and actual everyday tasks. It was starting to look great. Hana grew closer to Clarke and Finn, trying to keep control on the situation.
Clarke was messing with the map of the area for a solid thirty minutes now, looking for the coordinates of a supposed hundred-year-old bunker near their camp.
"Found it." Clarke drew a red circle in the middle of what seemed to be a field on the poorly accurate map. "It should be about four hours away." They let the information sink in with silence. Four hours away wasn't nothing, it meant being at the mercy of the grounders at any moment for a least eight hours until they came back to camp.
Finn and Hana looked at each other, waiting for the other to say something but neither of them did. It was the first time they had planned a long trip after Jasper got speared by the grounders and a silent fear of the outside started growing in them, even in the leaders. None of them wanted to risk this much for a potential bunker that could be not there or useless if whatever is in it turns out outdated.
Clarke laid back in her chair, sighing. "I'll go." It was clear she didn't want to, but as the leader and the one that planned the trip, she felt obligated to.
"You can't go alone." Hana finally spoke up, clearing her throat. "I'll come with you."
Finn stood up and brushed his hair back before muttering something. "Yeah. Me too." His gaze was fixed on the map. We had started drawing little black stars where some of us were killed, to keep a record of the attacks. The track we prepared for the trip was not going through those exact spots, but it was close enough to scare us. Finn understood that right away and didn't hide his sceptic expression.
"We can't all go; someone has to stay to keep an eye on whatever Bellamy is on." Clarke said, her glance naturally going straight to the open door of the ship, through which we could notice Bellamy giving orders to some guys over the food section.
Hana followed her glance and locked her eyes on the man. He was dangerous, capable of a lot of things if he had any benefit in it. The problem was that, as soon as they were not following his orders, he started being insufferable with them. He was stubborn and so sure that he was always right that he didn't even consider that his way of ruling the camp could be the worst way possible. But everyone got influenced by his powerful speeches and started following his every word, eyes closed, not giving us enough time to explain ourselves.
If only he was letting us state our case before shouting the opposite... Maybe he could even leave camp for one full day? "Wait, Clarke, I got an idea." The leader turned over her, all ear. "We could get Bellamy to go to this trip. He would leave camp for the day." The two others got where she was going right away.
"That's smart." Finn stated. "But Clarke, you should stay here then. Rule camp while he's not here. Convince people that we need rules and not just go by 'whatever the hell we want'."
She hesitated, probably feeling like she should be on that trip if she planned it, but she knew Finn was right. She nodded and stood up, leaving the dropship without another word. She could be scary when she was in her leader mode.
Finn and Hana also exited the dropship, remaining silence for a little longer before Hana spoke again. "You don't have to come, you know? It's just a day trip, I can go with Bellamy, and we'll be fine."
Finn looked up at her, with way more determination than he had before. "No way. I'm not letting you go alone with this crazy guy."
She stopped walking as he stood in front of her. "Finn, I saw you in the dropship. You looked like you were planning your own death! You didn't want to come so why suddenly insisting so much?"
