Day 3
Hi! I'm sure I'll have an amazing time volunteering today. ! Counting down the days until I'm back! I am going to miss your goofy habits, and your cute drawing of flowers. Love You
I barely slept that night, lying paralyzed in bed, haunted by her laughter. In his room, he would see her two green eyes, like rubies, appearing in the darkness, watching him. The image of her in the blond hair man's arms filled me with despair. Was I just her plaything, while another man openly flirted with her? I felt ridiculed, imagining her and her friends laughing behind my back while they enjoyed their "amazing time" away. The red roses which were attached to the pages had started to decay. I had struggled to open the page, as if each one were a razor blade, cutting down my finger. Was her message love or mockery? Was I just too naive to see she was deceiving me? Maybe George was right, she was just a girl, but I couldn't believe she would lie. I held the notebook. Did it mean something? Was it proof of her love, wasn't it? The phone rang, pulling me from my thoughts. I answered.
—"Heyyy, how are you doing, my Lo—"
—"Who is Alexis?" I interrupted, my voice cold, devoid of mercy.
—"I—I can explain everything, just let me—"
But I had heard enough and hung up. Tears began to shimmer down the pages of the notebook, causing the red ink to shade in purple.
