As the soft glow of the moon filtered through the curtains, Ruby stirred from her nap, the remnants of dreams still dancing in her mind. She blinked against the dim light, stretching her arms above her head. The familiar scent of lavender filled the air, a reminder of the candles they had lit earlier."Hey, sleepyhead," a voice chimed from the kitchen, pulling her fully into the present. It was Morgan, her girlfriend, bustling around in search of something to satisfy her late-night cravings.
Ruby rubbed her eyes and smiled. "What's cooking at this hour?""Nothing yet, but I'm starving!" Morgan replied, her tone playful yet desperate. "I was hoping for something delicious, but it's way too late to go out."
Ruby chuckled at Morgan's exaggerated pout. "I know it's late, but we can't just sit here and starve!"
Morgan crossed her arms, a playful defiance in her eyes. "I refuse to go out in the dark. What if there are raccoons? Or worse, what if I run into someone I know?"
Ruby raised an eyebrow, trying to suppress a laugh. "You're telling me you'd rather risk starvation than face a raccoon?"
"Absolutely," Morgan replied, her tone serious. "I'm not ready for that kind of confrontation."Ruby sighed, trying to think of a solution. "Okay, so we can't go out. But what about ordering something? It's not like we're the first people to want food at night."
Morgan perked up at the suggestion. "You think they'll deliver this late?"
"Why not? It's 2024! There's got to be someone willing to brave the night for a good tip," Ruby said, already pulling out her phone.Morgan leaned over, peering at the screen. "What do we want? Pizza? Chinese? Something sweet?"
"Let's do a mix! Pizza and dessert," Ruby
suggested, her fingers flying over the screen. "But we need to make sure to leave a note for the driver. Something like, 'Thanks for risking it all for our midnight cravings!'""Perfect!" Morgan said, excitement bubbling in her voice. "And we can add a little extra cash for the tip. They deserve it for coming out here."
As Ruby placed the order, she felt a rush of anticipation. "Okay, it's on its way! Now we just have to wait."Morgan flopped back onto the bed, a playful grin on her face. "What if they take forever? I'm going to starve!"
Ruby laughed, rolling her eyes. "You're being dramatic. It'll be here soon. Besides, we could
always entertain ourselves while we wait."
"Like how?" Morgan asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Let's play a game," Ruby suggested. "We can guess what the driver looks like based on their name when they arrive."Morgan raised an eyebrow, a smile creeping onto her face. "You're on! But I'm definitely going to win."
As they settled in, the anticipation of the food and the playful banter filled the room, creating a cozy atmosphere that made the wait feel a little less agonizing.
