At Lifeline Hospital
As Ruhi slowly opened her eyes, the world around her came into focus, a blur of white walls and soft beeping sounds. Confusion washed over her, but beneath it lay a deep-seated fear-a fear that had been building in her chest. She struggled to sit up, her body feeling heavy and unresponsive. "Where am i?"she whispered, her voice barely audible.
A nurse rushed to her side, her expression a mix of relief and concern. " You're in the hospital, Ruhi. You've been in a coma for a while. Can you hear me?"
The memories crashed over her like waves-her father, a ghost she never knew; her mother, who had faded away too soon; her uncle, her protector, lost to the cruel hands of fate. Then came the sharp sting of betrayal from her boyfriend, the pressure to marry his brother, and the heart-wrenching moment her husband had taken everything from her."My baby...where is my baby?" she gasped, panic rising in her throat.
The nurse hesitated, her eyes darting away, and Ruhi felt a chill creep into her bones. "You need to rest. Let's take it slow."
"NO!" Ruhi shouted, the desperation clawing at her insides."I want my baby! Please, tell me where my baby is!" Tears streamed down her cheeks as the weight of her loss crushed her heart.
Just then, a doctor entered the room, his face covered with surgical mask, his presence commanding. "What's going on here?" he asked, his voice steady but firm.
"Dr. Raizada, she's asking about her baby," the nurse replied, her voice trembling slightly.
Dr. Raizada turned his gaze to Ruhi, his expression unreadable. "We will talk about that, but you need to calm down first. You have been through a lot."
"Calm down? You don't understand !" she cried, her heart racing. "They told me my baby was dead! I need to know the truth! Where is my baby?"
He stepped closer, and for a moment, she saw a flicker of empathy in his eyes. "I promise you, we will find you what happened. I will help you get the answer you need."
Ruhi 's heart pounded in her chest. She was desperate for the truth, for any glimmer of hope that her baby was still alive. "Please...i can't lose another person. I can't" she pleaded, feeling the weight of her past pressing down on her.
Dr. Raizada nodded slowly, his demeanor shifting to one of determination. "You won't lose anyone else. We'll uncover the truth together."
In that moment, amidst the chaos of her emotions, Ruhi clung to his words like a lifeline, hoping against hope that she would find her child and reclaim the pieces of her shattered life.
At podder House
The engagement day dawned bright and cheerful, filled with laughter and anticipation. Rohit stood in the elegantly decorated hall, surrounded by family and friends, his heart racing with a mix of excitement and anxiety. His childhood friend, Neha, looked radiant in her stunning outfit, her smile lighting up the room. The atmosphere buzzed with joy, but deep down, Rohit felt a heavy weight pressing on his conscience, a reminder of the dark secret he had buried.
As the ceremony began, Rohit's family showered him with love and blessings, and Abhira, his sister-in-law, was especially enthusiastic, her eyes sparkling with delight. She flitted around, making sure everything was perfect, all the while unaware of the turmoil brewing inside Rohit. He forced a smile, trying to push aside the fear that gnawed at him. The engagement ring felt cold in his palm, a tangible reminder of the life he was about to embrace, but also of the life he had shattered.
The moment arrived for Rohit to place the ring on Neha's finger. As he bent down, his phone buzzed violently in his pocket. He glanced at the screen, and his heart sank. The message read: "Ruhi has regained consciousness." Time seemed to freeze as panic surged through him. He exchanged a look with Abhira, whose face had turned ashen. The joy of the engagement evaporated, replaced by a suffocating fear.
"What do we do?" Abhira whispered, her voice trembling. Rohit felt the walls closing in, the laughter around him fading into a distant echo. He could feel the weight of their lies crashing down, threatening to expose everything they had worked so hard to conceal. The music that had once filled the air now felt like a haunting reminder of his betrayal.
Neha, noticing the sudden change in Rohit's demeanor, looked concerned. "Rohit, are you okay?" she asked, her brow furrowing with worry. He forced a nod, but his mind was racing. How could he continue this charade when Ruhi was awake? What if she remembered everything? What if she revealed the truth about their baby?
Abhira grabbed his arm, pulling him aside. "We need to think of a plan. If Ruhi talks.." her voice trailed off, the implications hanging heavily in the air. Rohit felt his heart pounding in his chest. The thought of Ruhi waking up and exposing their secret was terrifying. He had to act quickly.
As the guests continued to celebrate, Rohit made a decision. "I need to go to the hospital," he said, his voice steady despite the chaos inside him. Abhira looked at him, her eyes wide with fear. "Are you sure? What if she says something?"
"I have to face this," Rohit replied, determination creeping into his voice. "I can't let this go on any longer. I need to know what she remembers."
"Okay, you go! I will handle everything here but remember that Ruhi should not know our secret but if she does then you know well what to do." His daughter in law warned and he nodded as if he understood what he had to do.
"Don't worry, bhabhi, she will be out of breath before she knows our secrets."
With that, he turned away from the engagement festivities, leaving behind the laughter and joy that now felt like a distant memory. As he stepped outside, the weight of his actions pressed heavily on him, but he knew he had to confront the truth, no matter how painful it might be. The engagement ring felt like a burden in his pocket, a symbol of the life he had chosen, but now it was time to face the consequences of his past.
