Ten days since arriving at the Wisteria house, and all you have to say is that you legit feel bad for Tanjiro.
You think Zenitsu understands you're older than him, so he might be a little intimidated to "woo" you as he does with Nezuko. That being said, ever since he found out Nezuko is Tanjiro's sister, the blond has been super nice to the redhead, giving words of flattery, or being kind through actions.
Inosuke, meanwhile, is just really obsessed with headbutting poor Tanjiro in the ribs. He could be doing the most mundane things ever in existence, and then BOOM! Comes Inosuke headbutting that bitch at the waist.
He doesn't do it to you, though. They're just... really focused on bullying poor, sweet, Tanjiro. This is what you think about as Hisa spoke to Tanjiro, and Inosuke and Zenitsu were being their usual crackheads self.
"Congratulatory words?" Tanjiro asks with a tilt of his head.
Hisa nods, "Yes. It's a joyous occasion, a girl from the village is getting married. The groom is from the family of the chief from the neighboring village."
Tanjiro smiles, "Ah, congratulations to them!"
Hisa smiles slightly, "If all of you do not mind, I would love for the Demon Slayers to also give their blessings."
"...Eh? Us?"
You don't really get what's going on, but if the side eye Tanjiro gives Zenitsu and Inosuke were to tell you anything, is that... Well, you don't really know, actually. You couldn't tell if that was a stanky side eye or a side eye of affection. Still, it'll probably end up being that Tanjiro will have to answer for those guy's behaviors.
"Of course, it must be you if everyone's health conditions allow it," The old lady then shakes her head, "But please do not push yourselves."
"Ah, no. Our bodies are already fine, although not completely," Tanjiro waves off the concern, "But can we really attend?"
You tune them out for obvious reasons and go back to reading one of the books Hisa has lent you.
Apparently, the first thing you need to learn when it comes to Japanese is hiragana and katakana, and that 100 to 200 kanji are essential to your learning. It made you want to shit tears, sure, but there's no other way to go about it. You did tell her that learning to read and write the language is the least of your concerns, but then she hit you with the:
"If there is that chance you will be allowed to become a Japanese citizen, then it is a requirement you know how to read and write Japanese for the citizenship test."
...
So yeah, you have to learn how to read and write Japanese.
However, just looking at the introductory page is making you openly weep on the book.
Dakuten?? Handakuten??? What do you mean both hiragana and katakana contain forty-six characters, representing the same set of sounds – although one of the characters in katakana is not in use???
You hold your head in your hands, in shambles.
Hisa promised you that you might genuinely get the hang of it in about two weeks if you commit to the practice, and you want to believe her. However, just looking at the introductory page alone is making you nervous.
