Ishaan's pov.

.The evening was peaceful, the kind of serene calm that only Jaipur nights could offer. The sky had turned a deep shade of indigo, dotted with stars, and the air felt cool against my skin. The soft chirping of crickets filled the silence, blending with the occasional rustle of leaves outside the old house. I stood in the living room of Esha’s childhood home, the place where she had lived before everything changed. It was strange being here again, yet it felt familiar, like a part of her had always lived within these walls.
I could hear the murmurs of conversation drifting from the other room—my parents and hers were talking about the future, about us. About our marriage. I knew the moment was inevitable. Her parents had no choice but to accept it. They knew well enough that if they tried to stop us now, I wouldn’t let it happen. I would fight for this, fight for her, no matter the consequences. They’d soon realize that refusing us wasn’t an option. They’d have to face the consequences along with their son.
But even amidst all the discussions about us, I couldn’t shake the feeling of Esha’s absence. I looked around the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of her.
Nothing.
Not even a shadow. I stood up and started walking towards the stairs when suddenly, Ishana and Karan appeared out of nowhere, blocking my path with mischievous grins on their faces.
"Huh..." I muttered, raising an eyebrow, irritated by their antics.
"What?" I asked, my voice low and cold.
They just shrugged, those annoying smirks still plastered on their faces. How much I wanted to wipe that smug expression off both of them.
"Kahan jaa rahe ho?" Karan asked, his voice dripping with curiosity.
Before I could respond, Ishana spoke up, clearly enjoying my discomfort.
“Aree Karan Bhai, aur kahn jaayega...obviously apni hone waali biwi ke paas!” she teased, and a slight smile unconsciously tugged at my lips.
"Hone waali biwi..." I repeated under my breath, the words tasting sweet on my tongue. My heart raced at the thought of Esha—my Esha—soon to be my wife.
I shook my head, knowing they wouldn't let me off easily. But just as I was about to leave, Ishana added something in her usual teasing tone.
"Yaar, tum dono agar thodi der aur ruk gaye na, toh tumhe wapis bhej doongi!" she warned with a mischievous grin, her eyes glinting with playful danger.
Karan and Ishana burst into laughter, and I couldn’t help but chuckle at their childish behavior. They were always the same, relentless in their teasing, but I didn’t mind. In a way, it was nice to see the bond they shared, the carefree friendship they had.
With a smile, I made my way upstairs, ignoring their laughter echoing behind me.
When I reached the second floor, I noticed the door to Esha’s old room slightly ajar. Without a sound, I pushed it open, and my eyes immediately locked on her. She was sitting by the window, gazing out into the night, her thoughts probably lost somewhere in the vastness of the sky.
I closed the door softly behind me, taking a few quiet steps toward her. Standing behind her, I couldn’t help but admire the beauty of her profile, the way the moonlight seemed to outline her delicate features. It was as if the universe itself had conspired to make her the most beautiful thing in my world.
She must have felt my presence because, without looking back, she leaned her head against my chest, her body relaxing into mine.
I immediately wrapped my arms around her from behind, pulling her close, wanting to feel her, to possess her completely. "Kahan thi tum?" I whispered into her ear, my voice rough with the possessiveness I could no longer hide.
