🐰FREEN🐰

I got ready as quickly as I could before returning to the sales floor. As I walked out, I saw Paxton talking very kindly with Ling. As always, he looked incredibly handsome. He was wearing a perfectly pressed navy blue shirt and dark pants that highlighted his elegance. His style had that subtle, sophisticated touch that always left me breathless.

I took a deep breath, trying to keep the wild beating of my heart under control, and approached them.

—Hi —I greeted him with a smile.

Paxton returned my smile and gave me a brief hug, which made my heart race even faster.

—Hi, Freen —he said softly, while I tried not to melt into the floor.

—Is he your friend? —Ling asked curiously.

—Yes, he's Paxton. Paxton, this is Ling, my best friend —I replied.

Paxton gave Ling a charming smile.

—Nice to meet you, Ling. If you're Freen's friend, you must be an amazing person —he said, making Ling blush slightly.

—The pleasure is mine, Paxton —Ling replied, unable to take her eyes off him.

Trying to break the moment, I looked at him and asked:

—Paxton, what did you need me for?

—Well, since you're such a good friend of my sister, I thought you might help me pick out a gift for her birthday. Could you? —he asked, with that kind smile that left me speechless.

—Of course, whatever you need... —I interrupted myself, nervous. —I mean, I'd be happy to help.

Damn it, Sarocha, focus!

He smiled, and that sweet expression left me speechless again.

—There are some very nice things here; you could buy something for her right here —Ling suggested, and Paxton nodded appreciatively.

—The more help, the better —he added, and the three of us started looking for the perfect gift for Primily.

After a few minutes, we found an elegant scarf in his sister's favorite color.

—It's perfect —he said as Ling wrapped the gift in a pretty bag.

—You can come by anytime —Ling said as she handed it to him with a smile.

Then Paxton looked at me and called me by that nickname I hated so much.

—Little one —he said, with his typical sweetness.

I pressed my lips together but responded.

—Yes.

—You can invite your friend Ling if you'd like —he added, and Ling looked at me with excitement.

—Would you like to go, Ling? —I asked her.

—Of course, friend! I'd love to —she replied enthusiastically.

Paxton smiled at me one more time before saying goodbye.

—See you tonight.

I watched him as he walked to his car, not looking away until he disappeared. Tonight, I'm going to get ready like never before, to make it clear that I'm not a little one.
