Chapter 3
I didn't get back my memories. They came as dreams or flashbacks. But then the doctor said that I was good enough to go back home. Though I still had to go for some check-ups. I got discharged, and I noticed something. It wasn't the same doctor or the same hospital that I saw the first time I woke up. So I asked the doctor if my suspicions were right. And he said yes. The first hospital I was in was actually a hospital that was the closest to the scene. Then they took me back to my country. And that's when I woke up and saw Dorcas. That's what she called herself.
However, reaching home ... It wasn't what I expected it to be. It was big, like in my dreams. But dry and empty. It was nothing like the home I was urging to see.
A year later ....
A year later, I didn't get much of my memories back, and I didn't get close to Dorcas either. That feeling I had didn't change. I still see her like a stranger. She tried to get close; she talked about how good our parents were, and how close we were. But I could not get myself to get close to her. Something is off, but I just don't know what. And I couldn't just fake it. Then came another headache, my dad's company. I was the firstborn and heiress of the company. I didn't think much of it, but I had contracts to read and sign. Things to do, like my dad's partner couldn't understand that I just got out of an accident. I didn't have any other choice than to start taking care of my dad's company. I didn't get my memories back, though I knew what I was doing; I didn't know how or where I learned it from. It came naturally. However, after work, I go back home to that big and empty house. That was full of the awkward silence between Dorcas and me. I usually go running to decompress. From the confusion in my mind and the stress at work. At night, it's always quiet and peaceful. But then came a night-a night of terror. I went for a run as usual. But I scented that feeling again. That feeling of being followed. I stopped, looked around, but the road was empty.
Tired, I started walking, then I saw a man. The strange thing was that the man was in front of me. He wore all black; he was creepy. Standing some blocks away, I took a step back because I felt like he was after me. Before I could react, he brought out a gun. And there came a muzzle blast: "TA.". I freezed; I could not even shake a muscle. Only my eyes could see that unknown young man that appeared from nowhere and jumped between me and that bullet. Confused, it took a minute before I could get my senses and the control of my muscles back. I rushed, took my phone, and called an ambulance. I obviously went with the man. He saved my life, for a reason I ignore. On our way to the hospital. All kinds of questions went through my mind. "What if we knew each other, or maybe we were close, or maybe it was all planned, or maybe..." So many questions, and I didn't have answer for any. I tried to see if I could remember him from somewhere, but it was blank as expected. But I didn't stop me from appreciating what he did. I stayed at the hospital until the doctor told me that he was out of danger. I went to his room; he was asleep. I could not stop wondering, "Who is this man?" " Where is he from ?" All this questions can only be answered when he wakes up.
Days later
Days passed, and he was still unconscious. But then came that morning; he woke up. And I was right there staring at him. He woke up looking surprised. Then ask me if I was fine. He didn't look worried about himself. I told him to worry about himself and that I was fine. Left him to rest. Then I came the next day. To thank him and ask him why he did what he did. And all he said was, "I just found myself there." It didn't make sense. But then, whatever the reason could be, he saved me. So I told him that he could call me if he needed anything. He said all he needs is a job. So the day he got discharged from the hospital. For a start, I made him my chauffeur. Well, I felt like it was too small compared to what he did. But I couldn't give him more until I figure out what exactly is going on, and who exactly this man is, and where his coming from. That's all I can give for now.
