Alexis straightened her coat and adjusted her glasses before entering the exam room. This time, she decided to use her polished Southern accent—a trick she'd picked up during her years of blending in at various jobs. Stepping into the room, she saw Derek Morgan sitting on the exam table, looking slightly amused, while Penelope Garcia stood nearby, her ever-vibrant personality filling the space.
"Well, good mornin', y'all," Alexis greeted warmly, her Southern drawl smooth and convincing. "I'm Dr. Potter, and I'll be takin' care of you today."
Derek raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk forming on his face. "Dr. Potter, huh? You're not from around here, are you?"
Alexis smiled, keeping her composure. "Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia," she replied, making sure her tone was flawless. "And you must be Mr. Morgan and Miss Garcia. Let's see what brings y'all in today."
Penelope tilted her head, narrowing her eyes as she looked Alexis over. "You know, you look kinda familiar. Have we met before?"
"I don't reckon so," Alexis answered smoothly, flipping open the chart and pretending to skim it. "I'd surely remember meetin' someone as lively as you, Miss Garcia."
Derek chuckled, leaning back on the table. "She's got you there, Penelope. So, Doc, what's the diagnosis? Am I gonna live?"
Alexis gave him a playful look, stepping closer to examine his arm, which was the reason for his visit. "Well, let's take a look before we start plannin' any memorials, Mr. Morgan. I hear you've been overexertin' yourself lately."
"Overexerting? Me?" Derek asked, feigning innocence.
Penelope interjected with a grin. "Oh, please. This guy's practically a superhero. But seriously, Doc, how's he looking?"
Alexis focused on the task at hand, carefully examining Derek's arm while keeping her identity hidden. She could feel Penelope's curious gaze on her the entire time, but she didn't let it faze her.
"Everything seems to be in good shape," Alexis concluded, stepping back and scribbling some notes on the chart. "Just keep followin' the recovery plan, and you'll be back to fightin' crime in no time."
Derek smiled, rolling his shoulder experimentally. "Appreciate it, Doc. You've got a good touch."
"Why, thank you," Alexis replied, her Southern charm unwavering.
As they wrapped up, Penelope glanced at Alexis one last time, her brow furrowed. "You're really good at this, but there's something about you... I can't put my finger on it."
Alexis offered a polite laugh, adjusting her glasses. "I get that a lot, Miss Garcia. Must be my charm."
She watched as they left the room, her heart pounding slightly. It was a close call, but she managed to maintain her cover. Keeping her BAU colleagues in the dark about her double life wasn't easy, but it was a secret she intended to keep. Alexis glanced down at the chart for her next patient and immediately froze. Detective Elliot Stabler. She hadn't seen him in a while, but she considered him one of her closest friends. They had bonded over their shared passion for justice, even though they operated in very different fields. Taking a deep breath, she adjusted her glasses and decided to keep her professional demeanor intact.
Walking into the exam room, Alexis immediately noticed Elliot sitting on the edge of the bed, his broad shoulders slightly hunched and his expression one of mild impatience. As always, he looked like he carried the weight of the world on his back.
"Detective Stabler," Alexis said in her usual calm, professional tone, skipping any accents this time. "What brings you to my hospital today?"
Elliot turned, a faint smile tugging at his lips when he saw her. "Alexis? What are you doing here?"
