I was walking on the soft green grass again, towards the beautiful shore.
“Sashaaaaaa….”
I looked around desperate to find the source of that crystal voice. I heard a crunching noise beside me. It was coming from a bush nearby. The leaves were trembling. I walked close and knelt down beside it. If this was a dream then nothing could really hurt me. Holding on to that thought I parted the leaves and peered inside.
For a few moments everything was still. The trembling stopped. I sighed impatiently and stood up. Suddenly something sprang up from the bush and pounced on me, knocking me to the ground. I screamed and tried to yank it off me. It snarled and hissed and scratched. I held up my forearm to defend my face. I was VERY protective of my face! I squeezed my eyes shut not wanting to get them clawed out. Man could this creature fight!
“GET OFF!”, I yelled waving my hands everywhere. I felt stings on my hands. Dammit it was clawing at me! The stings burned like acid.
“NO!”, I screamed and opened my eyes. Two strong black arms caught me, hugging me to a broad chest. I clung on to it panting. I closed my eyes again and rested my head on this broad chest, relieved I wasn’t being scratched anymore.
“Oh Ray…..you came back”, I sighed. I was used to having nightmares about Ray. They usually ended badly, but this didn’t seem so bad. I pressed my head harder on his strong sweet smelling chest, wishing I would never wake up. Reality was just too painful.
“’Ray’? Now that’s just a little insulting you know”, said a very annoyed velvet voice above my head.
I froze. Then something hit me. This chest was cold. The arms around me were like ice. Ray was never cold. In fact I was always sweating near him. With a pang of horror I yanked myself away and stared into the blood red eyes of the monster I stabbed not very long ago. I let out a bloodcurdling shriek and scrabbled backwards, only to bang my head against something hard.
“Hey relax I’m not going to eat you”, the monster said leaning closer to me. I wasn’t having that. My fist collided with his nose almost instantly, breaking it. He pulled back with a shocked expression on his now bleeding face. I got just a few seconds to take in my present location. I was in a bedroom with sort of golden walls. I could feel something soft under me. I was on a bed. It was a beautifully decorated room and…..Wait! Did I just get that right? I was in a BEDROOM?! On a velvet BED?! With a MONSTER?!
YIKES!!! SOMEBODY GET ME THE HELL OUTTA HERE!!!!
“You’re starting to cross the line with me sweetheart”, the creature said wiping his bloody nose with a handkerchief. I saw a flash of anger in his eyes. I leaped off the bed and sprinted for the door.
“Oh no you don’t.” In a second he was in front of me. I crashed into his chest.
“GET AWAY!”, I screamed but he wasn’t listening. He just swooped me up and dumped me back on the bed. I tried to get up but he blocked me, so I started clawing at his face. He gave me a hard slap. The shock of the blow made my mind go blank.
“Well you are quite the tigress”, he said gripping both my hands with his pale palm and pinning them above my head. He shifted his entire weight on me and used his other hand to gag me as I was screaming a lot. Like that was necessary! He was so heavy his very weight knocked the breath outta me. I couldn’t move. I just stared up at him with panicked eyes.
“Now listen, I’m not going to do anything as yet…..so will you please calm down?”, his voice was gentle but had a tinge of anger. “I’m going to let go now, but you have to promise me that you’ll shut up and not try anything stupid. That would end badly. Promise?”
