Kim’s POV
Kim sat quietly at a corner table with Phayu, only half-listening as his friend talked excitedly about the latest car modifications. Kim wasn’t really into cars, but he couldn’t help but smile at Phayu’s passion. Phayu always made things sound interesting, even when Kim wasn’t totally into the topic.
“It’s all about the turbo” Phayu said, eyes lighting up. “The right one, and your car just comes to life. It roars when you step on the gas, man”
Kim nodded absently, though his mind was somewhere else. The conversation wasn’t catching his attention, not today. He kept thinking about Chay, The new guy. Kim didn’t know why, but there was something about Chay that he couldn’t shake off. It wasn’t that he liked him—at least.
Kim didn’t think so,but there was something...
Something different about him. It was just a little strange. His thoughts were interrupted when Phayu glanced at him, clearly noticing he wasn’t paying attention.
“You’re zoning out again, huh?” Phayu said, raising an eyebrow. “What’s got you so distracted?”
Kim snapped out of it, blinking. “What? Oh, nothing Just thinking.”
Phayu smirked. “Thinking about Chay the new guy, right?”
Kim froze for a moment, caught off guard. Oh Fuck.. How did he know?
Phayu leaned in, teasing. “I can tell it Kim you’ve been acting a little... different since you met him”
Kim shook his head quickly. “No, I’m not.”
But Phayu wasn’t convinced. “Come on. You’re definitely thinking about him, So what’s up? You like him?”
Kim felt his face heat up, but he shrugged, trying to act casual. “I’m not thinking about him like that.”
Phayu raised his hands in mock surrender, clearly amused. “Alright, alright. But I know you’ve been distracted. You’re thinking about him, aren’t you?”
Kim didn’t know how to respond. The truth was, Chay had popped into his mind a lot more than he would’ve liked. But he wasn’t about to admit that.
Phayu, not giving up, added, “Well, he’s been hanging out with Rain, The cute boy? I saw them together earlier. They make a pretty pair along with that pale guy beside them .”
Kim’s brow furrowed at the mention of Rain. What the Fuck? Seriously Phayu, Cute? He’d never really thought of Rain that way. Sure, Rain was... well, he was fine, friendly and easygoing but cute? Kim didn’t see it.
At least, not when he compared him to the one person who had really caught his attention. Rain didn’t have the same... presence like Chay did. Chay just had something that drew Kim in, even when he tried not to think about it..
“Cute?” Kim repeated, a little confused. He glanced at Phayu. “You think Rain’s cute?”
Phayu grinned, looking amused. “Yeah, I mean, he’s got that charm, right? Always so cheerful and nice. But you know who I’m talking about. Chay, right? He’s the one you’re thinking about”
Kim didn’t know how to respond to that and took a deep pause. Chay? Now, that was a different story. In his mind, Chay was the one who stood out. Chay was the cute one, not Rain.
How did Rain even get to be called cute? When the three of them were together, it was obvious. Chay was the one who was... well, adorable.
Phayu chuckled, clearly noticing Kim’s hesitation. “So, what’s with Chay? Is he your type?”
Kim blinked, caught off guard by the question. “My type? No. He’s just... trying to be friendly, Thats all”
Phayu raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. “Trying to be friendly? Is that it? He came up to you asking if you could teach him music. That's all?”
Kim rubbed the back of his neck, feeling awkward. “Yeah, that’s it. He wanted to learn more about music. Nothing more”
Phayu chuckled and leaned back in his chair, clearly enjoying the banter. “You’re always so closed off, Kim. Just admit it. You like him a little, don’t you?”
“I’m not interested, Phayu” Kim repeated, this time with more conviction. “He’s just... a kid who wants to learn about music. That’s all. End of story”
Phayu didn’t press further, but the playful smirk on his face remained. “Alright, man. If you say so. Just don’t be too surprised if Chay surprises you, though”
Kim tried to ignore the feeling that kept nagging at him. There was something about Chay, yes, but it didn’t mean anything. He wasn’t interested in getting caught up in anything right now. He had enough on his plate already.
“Anyways, let’s just talk about the cars again” Kim said, changing the subject with a small sigh.
Phayu gave him a knowing look but dropped the subject. “Ok, fine. We’ll talk about cars... for now...”
But Kim let out a sigh, trying to ignore the nagging feeling in his chest. He wasn’t interested in Chay. He wasn’t.
But then again... he whispered and say " What the fuck is wrong with me?! why do I keep thinking about him?! "
