"When I talk to you, the world feels right,
Stars seem to shine a bit more bright.
In your voice, I find a sweet embrace,
Your tender tones, my heart's resting place."

......................................................

It was the third day of her Durga Puja holidays, and Aanya was sprawled on her bed, the festive energy outside doing nothing to cure her boredom. She sighed, staring at her phone, endlessly scrolling through her feed before finally opening Snapchat.

Her chats were a mess-10 to 15 unread messages and about 20 to 25 unopened snaps. She began aimlessly tapping through the unopened snaps when one name caught her attention: Aarnik.

"Wait a second..." she muttered to herself, furrowing her brows. "Who's this?"

She stared at the name for a moment before it clicked. "Ohhh, it was that guy I accepted five days ago." A smirk crept onto her lips as she tapped on the chat.

His message, sent exactly five days ago, simply read: "Hi."

Aanya debated for a second. "Should I even reply? I mean, it's been five days. Idk what he'll think of me? She rolled her eyes at herself. "Ah, whatever. Let's see how it goes."

She typed back: "Hey... where you from?"

Almost instantly, her message was opened, and within seconds, his reply popped up.

Aarnik: "Hey! I'm from Nagaon. What about you?"

Aanya: "Oh, cool. I'm from Barpeta! You studying or working?"

Aarnik: "Studying.. Wby

Aanya: "Studying"
"How old are you"

Aarnik: 19
"You"?
Aanya: "same"
19

After talking for a while, Aanya placed her phone aside and let out a content sigh. She stretched her arms above her head, her mind pleasantly light from the unexpected conversation. Closing her eyes, she decided to rest for a bit, letting the distant sounds of the Puja festivities drift into her room.

A faint vibration interrupted her moment of calm, followed by the glow of her phone lighting up the dim room. She groaned, rubbing her eyes. "Now who's this texting?" she muttered irritably, reaching for her phone.

The screen displayed a new message. It was him.

Aarnik: "aaji moi Puja sboloi jm Mur lgt buror lgt ...kurta pindhi jm. Excited hoi asu"

[Today I'll go see the Durga Puja with my friends wearing a kurta. I'm excited!]

Aanya's irritation melted into a chuckle as she read the text. "Cute," she murmured to herself, a small smile playing on her lips.

She stared at the message for a few seconds, unsure of how to respond. It wasn't like her to indulge too much in casual texts like this-usually, she'd already be bored and moving on. But there was something about Aarnik's enthusiasm that made her pause.

After a moment's hesitation, she typed back: "Oh. Seems like you're really excited."

She put her phone back down and chuckled softly to herself again. "Kurta and all, huh? What a guy..."

She didn't know why, but this random text from him lingered in her thoughts longer than she'd expected.

"Hmm, he's not bad," she muttered under her breath, and she turned the Snapchat notification on
Her snap notification is always off but from that day she turned it on.

It seemed like she didn't want to miss his texts

For the first time in a while, Aanya wasn't already thinking about how soon she'd get bored. This time, she was just enjoying the moment.
