Diana took a sip of her lemonade tea, the tangy sweetness filling her mouth as she set the glass down on the table, eyes glimmering with something playful. She could feel the warmth of Mattheo's gaze on her, and it made her smile shyly. It was strange, to feel this comfortable with someone—especially someone like him. But for the first time in a long while, Diana didn't want to overthink it. She didn't want to hide behind walls or doubt herself.

There was a quiet tension in the air, the kind that only existed between two people who were both trying to figure out what came next. But instead of feeling nervous or unsure, Diana felt a spark of excitement.

"So," she began, setting the glass down carefully, her eyes meeting Mattheo's, "this is a little new for me, you know. Meeting someone and actually... getting to know them." She smiled softly, her fingers tracing the rim of her glass. "I've never really done it before."

Mattheo's eyes softened as he leaned in a little closer, his gaze lingering on her lips for a moment before meeting her eyes again. "You're doing great," he said quietly, his voice warm. "You don't have to be anyone else here, Diana. Just... be yourself."

Diana felt a flutter in her chest at his words, her heart beating a little faster. He had a way of making her feel like the only person in the room, even though the café wasn't exactly empty. His sincerity was something she hadn't expected, and it made her feel more at ease than she had ever felt with anyone.

She leaned forward slightly, tilting her head, a teasing glint in her eyes. "I'm trying. But I can't help myself when it comes to... certain things." Her voice dropped a little, just enough for Mattheo to hear the mischief behind it.

Before he could ask what she meant, Diana quickly stole a kiss, leaning forward and pressing her lips softly to his. It was a brief, unexpected moment—one that caught Mattheo off guard. She pulled back with a grin, her cheeks flushed as she teased him with a little laugh.

"Who says I'm always going to let you take the lead?" she said, her voice light, but there was a hint of challenge in it.

Mattheo blinked, his breath catching in his throat as he looked at her, a mixture of surprise and amusement flashing across his face. He was stunned, for just a moment, by the boldness of her action. But then, a slow smile spread across his lips. "So, that's how it's going to be?" he asked, raising an eyebrow, clearly intrigued by her sudden boldness.

Diana giggled, clearly enjoying the effect she had on him. "You weren't expecting that, were you?" she teased, taking another sip of her lemonade tea, her fingers brushing against the edge of the glass, deliberately slow. "Maybe I'm full of surprises."

Mattheo leaned back slightly, still grinning. "I don't think I've ever met anyone quite like you, Diana Greengrass," he said, his voice low and full of admiration.

Diana felt a little thrill at his words. She had always tried to hide in the shadows, but with Mattheo, it felt like being bold wasn't something to fear. Something was exciting about this—the way he didn't push her away, the way he welcomed the unpredictability of her.

She leaned forward again, her lips curling into a mischievous smile. This time, her kiss was slower, more deliberate. She let it linger for just a second longer before pulling away, her eyes bright with amusement as she watched him.

"You don't mind, do you?" she asked playfully, her voice teasing, but there was a softness to it. It was as though, for the first time, she was fully letting herself enjoy the moment.

Mattheo's eyes were filled with something deeper now—a mix of admiration and something more. He shook his head slightly, his gaze never leaving hers. "I don't mind at all."

There was something magnetic between them now, an unspoken connection that neither of them had anticipated but both were beginning to embrace. They continued to talk, their conversation flowing easily, though every so often, Diana would steal another kiss—quick, playful, but meaningful all the same. Each kiss felt like it added another layer to their connection, pulling them closer with every stolen moment.

By the time they finished their coffee, both of them were smiling more than they had in a long time, the air between them filled with something new, something that neither of them could quite put into words.

As they walked out of the café together, the sunlight now brighter and warmer in the early afternoon, Diana couldn't help but feel lighter, freer. The whole world still felt so big, but for once, she didn't mind. With Mattheo by her side, the future felt a little less uncertain.

"So, what happens next?" Diana asked, looking up at him with her soft green eyes, her tone playful but sincere. "Do I keep stealing kisses, or do you get to lead for a change?"

Mattheo chuckled, his arm brushing hers as he fell into step beside her. "I think it's safe to say, we're both in charge of this," he said, his voice low but filled with something playful, too. "And honestly, I'm looking forward to what happens next."

Diana smiled, feeling a warmth in her chest. For the first time in a long time, everything felt right. And maybe, just maybe, they were both ready to see where this unexpected connection could lead.
