Cody's Secret Friend

Cody woke up crying for the third time that week. He just couldn't handle it anymore. Cody took the elevator down into the garage, accidentally waking the bots. When Heatwave was about to say something to Cody, they all heard him crying. Cody pulled out his phone that she had gotten him for his 13th birthday, and dialed her number.

•ring... ring... ring...•

"Hello...?" A tired woman's voice asked sweetly on speaker phone. "Hey mom..." Cody said as he sniffed, "oh baby, what's wrong??" She asked as she woke up a little more. "I keep having nightmares *sniff* and I don't know what to do..." Cody said as more tears made their way to his eyes. "Okay, I'll be over in a minute let me pack some stuff." She said as shuffling could be heard in the background.

Not even 10 minutes later there was a small knock on the garage door. Cody hung up the phone and went to open the garage door quietly. In walked a beautiful woman, she was still in her pajamas and had messily pulled her curly hair up into a bun. "Hi sweetheart" she said as she hugged him as they stepped back inside. "Sorry to make you come over here in the middle of the night" Cody said as wiped his eyes, "nonsense my love, I'm happy to come help." She said as she pulled a blue clothe handkerchief out of her bag and handed it to Cody.

Cody took the handkerchief with thankfulness as he wiped his eyes, they both walked to the main lounge in the garage and sat on the couch. She took off her bag and set it next to her and pulled out a giant blanket, and draped it over Cody. "Do you wanna talk about it? Or leave it to the winds?" She asked with a sweet smile, Cody said "let's leave it to the winds" as he too let a little smile show. "I brought all kinds of stuff, I know it's a bit girly but would you like to watch a movie and do some self care?" She asked as she pushed her glasses up.

Cody giggled and said "yeah... that sounds good" she smiled and took out a stack of movies from her bag and took out her little bag labeled 'self care' . "What do you wanna watch? We have the Muppets, meet the Robinsons, Sesame Street the original" she said as she listed off a ton of movies in the stack. "Let's do the Muppets and after we finish that we can do Sesame Street!" Cody said as he smiled at his two favorite childhood shows. "Alright, that sounds good to me!" She said as she smiled at Cody.

The bots were confused, who was this woman and why did Cody call her 'mom'?? They watched in silence as she began to talk to Cody and take out things from her bag. She turned the TV volume way down, and put in one of the movies. As the movie began to play, the bots saw her take out some weird objects. She began to put some stuff on Cody's face as Cody giggled saying "that's tingly!!" Then she put the same stuff on her face. The bots were happy that Cody was smiling, he hadn't been in a good mood for almost a week! The bots wondered just who this wonderful woman was...

She knew the bots were watching, Cody had told her everything, and she wholeheartedly believed him. She knew that they were suspicious of her, but she couldn't care less. Right now her top priority was her beloved son Cody. She couldn't physically have kids, so she took Cody in when others couldn't. She was loving and kind, she was caring. She was his mom... more than anyone will know.

She wiped the face scrub off of Cody and her faces and threw the wipes in the trash. "Let's get something to help those eye bags hm?" She said as she pulled out 2 under eye masks, as she put it on, Cody hissed and said "mom that's super cold!!" She giggled and said "yes dear I know it's cold"  as the movie played in the background, the two talked about everything and anything. Cody told her about how everyone was busy recently, and that with most missions now they didn't need him at the command center. She sighed in disappointment as she said "well if they don't need you here then you can always come over, I'm just a walk away. I need help with my garden anyways!" She smiled. She took the eye masks off and noticed Cody was getting sleepy, when she came back from the trash Cody was sleeping peacefully. She just smiled and sat down and pulled him close, she ran her fingers through his hair.

"Oh my poor baby boy, what have they done..." she said with a sad look in her eyes. After a while She quietly got up, turned the TV off and picked up Cody and laid him on the couch, she draped the blanket she brought, over him. She took out a bag of homemade sweet treats and set them on the little coffee table in front of the couch. She also set out a hand-made mug with an unopened packet of hot coco next to the bag of sweets. She packed all her things away except for the blanket and the treats for Cody, she pulled out a note pad and wrote 'My dearest Cody, I had to head back home. I hope you're not too upset... I left you a couple of goodies. If you run out, you may always ask for more. Remember mom is always here for you and that you're never alone.'

She ripped it out and set it next to the treats she gave him. As she got ready to leave, she stood in front of the bots in vehicle mode, "I know you're listening." She said voice full of sternness, "don't you dare let any harm come to my baby boy, if I find out that something bad happens while I'm not around, there will be hell to pay." She said angrily as she glared at the bots.

Heatwave finally decided to speak up, "What's it to you?" He said snarky. That pissed her off, "what's it to me?? What's it to me?!" She whisper-yelled "What's it to me is that you've let my baby boy get hurt! You've traumatized him! He has these awful nightmares about the things that's happened to him!! He cries to me about how he almost gets killed on a daily basis!!" She said in an angry huff. Heatwave backed down in shame, but then Boulder spoke up. "We understand ma'am, and we're sorry that we haven't payed enough attention to Cody's issues."

She smiled and said, "you must be Boulder, Grams partner." "Yes ma'am I am!" Boulder said with a smile in his voice. "And you must be Heatwave." She said with a stern tone. "Yes that's me." Heatwave said, she turned and said "and you two must be Chase and Blades." With a smile. Chase replied "and you must be Ms. Dakota Chief Burns Nextdoor neighbor." Dakota smiled "that's me!" She said. "Why does Cody call you mom?" Blades ask quietly, "well I adopted Cody, although not legally but emotionally. I am unable to have children of my own due to a condition I have. So because of that, i adopted Cody. And when Cody needs me most, I'm always there." She said with a heartwarming smile.

"If you need anything, a place to stay and cool off or just a quiet couple of hours, my doors are always open. And if Cody ever needs anything, and I mean anything. Just dial my number or come get me from my house." Dakota said with a smile. The bots didn't care how she found out about them or how she knew their names, they were just glad that she decided to take Cody in as one of her own.
