Blinking her eyes quite a few times, Mahnoor tried to figure out if she was just dreaming it or if Shahzain was actually here.

" Andar aau mai ? "

He asked, leaning a little. She stepped back and nodded, allowing him to come in.

" Tum yaha kaise ? Kab aaye ? Meri toh bhabhi se kal hi baat Hui thi ! Unhone mujhe kuchh bataya kyu nahi ? Shahzain why don't you tell me aur tum kyu aaye ? "

Shahzain didn't quite realise just how much he adored her facial expressions up until now.

" Ammi aur bhai nahi aa sake. But that doesn't mean ki tum akeli ho. "

His words seemed to have calmed her nerves as he could see a soft smile emerging from her lips. Her eyes shined when she slowly nodded and sat on the bed, a little away from him.

" You didn't have to. "

" I wanted to. "

Two lines and 7 words made her feel a whirlwind of emotions and she was not ready to acknowledge it just yet.

" I have something for you. "

His words brought her back to the present and she eagerly looked at him putting forward both her hands.

" Kya laaye ho ? Do mujhe ? "

He chuckled after seeing her excitement and wanted to tease her a little but a knock on her door made them both look at it.

" Are you expecting someone ? "

He asked walking up to open the door before she could.

" Nahi "

He opened the door and the frown on hislips grew seeing her friend Cole standing there.

" Mahi ! "

He called, trying to look behind Shahzain which has him muttering curses and she immediately got up from the bed and greeted him with a hug.

" When did you come ? "

She asked him completely forgetting about the man standing behind her.

" An hour back, I didn't know you two were staying together. I'm sorry. "

" No we're not. Hiss room is next to mine. "

She clarified and Shahzain felt a little annoyed because he didn't think that there was a need for her to clear things up with him.

" I wanted to surprise her, what she are you doing here ? Shouldn't you be taking some rest ! "
His bitchy tone seemed to have taken Cole's attention and he cleared his throat.

" I just wanted to drop this. "

His hand held a box of waffles and Shahzain noticed that it was her favourite flavour.

" Oh thanks. "

Eyes lit with excitement and a pretty smile on her face proved just how much she loved food.

" I'll leave now. "

He told her and left without waiting for a reply. Shahzain felt at ease as he closed the door and made his way to the bed again.

" Offer bhi nahi karogi ? "

He asked her to which she let out an exasperated groan before keeping forward the same side from which she had taken a bite and despite him not usually eating someone else's food, Shahzain found himself eating some of it.

" Chalo Mai jaata hun. "

He said, once they were done with the waffle, he washed his hands and patted her head. She frowned when he moved out without waiting for her reply.

His behaviour today surprised her but she decided to not let it bother her today. All her friends were here now and few of  Shahzain's relatives were also situated here.

I'm going to a dinner tonight. Saath chaloge ?

She texted him and opened her laptop not wanting to sit around and wait for his reply.

Sure.

He texted back and she smiled realising that this is the first time she would introduce someone from her family to her friends here.

Family

It felt weird thinking about him like that, but then again, pretty much everything about Shahzain has had her feeling weird lately.

" Does this look okay ? "

Mahnoor asked, setting her hair and for a moment Shahzain simply stared at her, not bothering to give a reply.

She wears comfy clothes over trendy outfits but seeing her in a ruched dress made him feel things he shouldn't be feeling.

" Shahzain ! "

She called again and he tore his eyes away from her and cleared his throat.

" You look good. "

His lack of enthusiasm didn't faze her as she continued putting on her heels.

" Chale ! "

He asked and instead of replying, she clasped their hands together.

" .....and the professor read that answer in front of the entire class. Sam was so embarrassed that she didn't come to anybody his lectures for two whole weeks. "

The table burst into yet another round of laughter, Shahzain enjoyed seeing Mahnoor laugh with her classmates. The dimple on her cheek rests perfect and the dimly lit restaurant lights make her look like an angel.

Shahzain was sitting next to Mahnoor and despite not having met most of them earlier, he felt comfortable.

" Shahzain ! You're a sweetheart. "

Carrie, who was sitting opposite him, flirted with him when he pushed the platter with sea food towards her.

This caused Mahnoor to smile mockingly as Carrie didn't realise that he did that simply because Maha was allergic to seafood.

" Tumhe pata hai na ki woh tumhare saath flirt kar rahi hai. "

She moved a little closer to him and whispered. What she was not aware of was that this little action of hers had him feeling hot and bothered because of their proximity.

" Hmm. Tumhari friend hai, I don't want to be rude to her. "

She clicked her tongue and said,

" Ye kisne kaha ki woh meri dost hai ? She hates me. "

He raised a brow and said,

" Why ? "

" Because I scored more than she did. "

He threw his head back and laughed. Her expressions were adorable, he could see she didn't like the way Carrie was eyeing him up and down.

Maybe, just maybe what he had been praying for these past few days will finally be his.
