"So, how come you didn't kiss her?" Braeden asked Scott as we slowly worked our way down the stairwell. Scott and I brightened up the walkway with our flashlights.

"What?"

"How come you didn't kiss your girlfriend?" I snickered at the uncomfortable look on his face.

"You mean, Kira?" I asked her.

To be honest I don't know what they are. After Allison, Scott's first love, died I assumed that Scott wouldn't be quick to jump into a new relationship.

"Whatever her name is."

"Well, she's not really, - uh I mean, we've never actually - She's not my girlfriend." Scott spit out.

"So if you die down here, are you gonna regret not kissing her?" Braeden wondered aloud. Scott stayed quiet. "You should've kissed your girlfriend."

We got deeper into the Church. Braeden in front and Scott behind me. The amount of cobwebs only getting worse as we went on. Braeden kept gripping her gun tighter and tighter, I could sense her fear. She's nervous, I can't blame her though. I'm a little bit nervous too.

Scott and I stopped in our tracks. I hear rattling, and I could tell Scott heard it too. I flashed my flashlight pass Scott and behind us.

"What?" Braeden whispers. We've all stopped now, just standing in the dirt covered walkway.

"Just had a feeling like something was behind us."

Braeden raised her gun, adjusting her grip on it, as we continued walking.

Just as we started walking at our normal pace we hear breathing. Not one of us, it's deeper, like someone is wearing a mask.

"You hear that?" Braeden stopped, turning back towards me and Scott.

"Is this why you never get that far?"

The breathing gets louder and now we can hear loud footsteps, definitely running towards us. The closer it got the more it sounded like growling, it's not human.

"Get ready" Braeden yelled before the thing turned the corner.

I jumped into a protective stance, if the thing got through Braeden I was next.

She lifted her gun and shot, a loud bang sounding, making me cover my ears. She kept firing blindly as we backed up.

"Where is it? Do you see it?" I yelled.

"No, I don't know! I can't see anything!"

"Where is this thing?" Braeden reloaded her gun.

It wasn't there. We were alone in the pathway. It was quiet for less than five seconds before the thing started growling again. It's loud footsteps could be heard once again, it's still coming for us.

"It's coming back!" Scott stated.

At this point the thing was roaring as it closed in on us.

"Get behind me." Braeden whispered, pushing me behind her. "Scott, get behind me!" She demanded.

Scott didn't listen, he stood in front of both me and Braeden. He planted his feet on the ground before letting out a loud roar. At this sound dirt started falling from the ceiling. I hope this place doesn't crumple down on us.

The creature could no longer be heard. It was silent once again.

"I think I scared it." Scott whispered in victory.

"I think you scared everything." Braeden commented.

The wall behind me started trembling . I knew this place would fall to pieces because of Scott.

We all turned around, the wall was gone, it now opened into a room. I started walking first, leaving Braeden and Scott to follow behind.

"What is that?" Scott asked. In front of us was another wall, covered in a strange symbol I've never seen before.

"Tezcatlipoca, the Nagual jaguar God." Braeden answered. "I think we found Derek."

My ears perked up at the last sentence. Scott immediately dropped to his knees, dropping the flashlight in the process, and leaned his ear against the door.

"Can you hear him?" I asked, not waiting for an answer before I shoved my ear against the wall.

I can barely hear his breathing and heartbeat, but I could hear him. It had to be Derek.

"Stand back." Scott moved me away from the wall.

Scott punched through the wall, making a small hole. I ran forward, helping clear the wall away. Once it was cleared Braeden lit up the dark area with a flashlight. A hand reached out.

I immediately grabbed the hand, pulling the person out. Their body crashed into mine, causing me to stumble backwards before I regained my balance. Their scent was unmistakable, I don't even need to look down to know who I'm holding.

"Derek," I whispered as I held him up.

-

Scott and I carried Derek through the Church doors. He wasn't walking, he was dragging his feet and he was covered in dirt and wearing baggy clothes. I don't know what happened to him, but I'd find out when we get home.

On cue the headlights of Stiles' jeep flashed ahead of us.

I patted his back. "We're going home Derek." I offered a smile as he looked at me.

Our four friends rushed out of the car and over to us.

"Is that him? Is that Derek?" Malia questioned.

"Uh, sort of." Stiles answered. Derek lifted his head to look at them.

This is Derek, no doubt, it's just a seventeen year old Derek.

Merry Christmas! Or if you don't celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays!

I hope you're enjoying spending time with your family and eating well!

So I was thinking about how often I'll update this story, and I've decided that I'll update every Monday. I won't be too strict on this rule, because I still have school and stuff, but unless I tell you otherwise I will update on Mondays.

Thank you for reading!
