"Nice day, huh?" I heard a voice say from beside me. I pulled out one of my headphones and looked over. It  was my old band-mate, Cole. He could sense my curiosity as to why he was there. "I saw you sitting here while I drove by and I figured I might as well stop and say hey, Jill made all of us delete your number when you left otherwise we would've texted you by now."

"I figured she would've done something like that." I honestly didn't want to talk to Cole. He's a jerk, he always has been.

"Look man, I understand if you don't want to talk to me. But you gotta understand that most of the time when we were fighting, it was Gabe's fault. He's the one that always started it. Either him, or Jill. But I promise it wasn't just me." I knew this already. There was no point in arguing, you couldn't get through to him that he was a jerk. I just looked the other way and stayed quiet for a minute. We were sitting on the railing of the pier, watching the ocean. This is where I spend most of my time, writing song lyrics or just listening to music. Now Cole has infected it with the aura of his douche-ness.

"What do you want?" I asked with a sigh.

"I just don't want any beef between us. I want to know that we're cool...are we?"

"Sure, yeah, whatever. That doesn't change the fact that you're a jerk." He rolled his eyes when I said that.

"Dalton, bro,  you were my best friend. You told me everything before you would tell the other guys. I was always the one to have your back and you would always have mine." Okay now I'm mad.

"Really, Cole? You "always had my back"? yeah right! What about the time Gabe blamed me for the Avalon thing happening? You stood beside him, so did Dana. Will was the only one standing up for me! So yeah, you "always had my back", especially on the important stuff." I started to walk away when he grabbed my arm. I turned around right into his fist, I stumbled back and fell into the sand.

"You know what? You're right, but you don't deserve to have me stand up for you. You aren't worth standing up for.  Honestly, Dalton, I don't know why you haven't killed yourself yet.  You don't deserve life. You're shallow, inconsiderate, ugly, fat, and stupid, and only fags wear eyeliner. So do it, take a razor and slit your wrists, nobody  would  care." I can't believe he just said that...but at the same time I can. I was still laying on the sand holding my bloody nose when he jumped in his jeep and sped off, leaving me there.

I just laid there thinking about what he said. My eyes shut, holding back tears, when all of a sudden it got dark, there was someone standing over me. I opened my eyes to see a girl looking at me with worried eyes. "Are you okay..?" she asked.

"Y-yeah..I'm alright.." I nodded my head. She reached out her hand offering to help me up but my hands were covered in blood. "S-sorry I've got blood all over my hands..I can g-get up though.." I slowly stood up, still on the verge of tears. My purple "The Who" shirt now had blood stains and sand all over it.

"Are you sure you're okay? You're stuttering and wobbly..I should take you to the hospital, come on. My name is Christina, by the way. And yours is?" I had to think for a second of what my name is..

"Uhhh...Dalton." I forced out. Why was it so hard to speak?

"Okay 'uhhhdalton', I'll take you to the hospital, c'mon let me help you to my car over here." She helped me keep my balance and led me to a little red Volkswagen Golf. She was a sweet girl, she had blue eyes and blonde wavy hair. She was quite a bit shorter than me..I'm 5'9" so I would say she's maybe 5'3"..aw.

"You don't have to do this.." I said, feeling guilty. "I don't want to get blood in your car."

She shook her head "I have a towel you can use." She took one towel and put it on the seat and gestured for me to sit down as she handed me another towel to clean up with.  "You're hurt and I'm not just going to leave you there bleeding to death and looking depressed. What'd he say to you by the way?"
