I wake up to the sound of aggressive banging on my bedroom door. My mom, the actual devil, yells at me.
"Get up, you lazy arse! I finally can put you to good use! Get dressed and pack a bag...you won't be back here again!"
I immediately jumped out of bed, not wanting to anger her further. Sharp pain shoots up my leg due to an unrecovered injury that occured at soccer practice. I wince but quickly brush it off, quickly packing my items in a bag. I was jittery, being so sure I was going to my brother's house. I grab my stash of money, my computer, a basic pocket knife for safety, and my phone. Before rushing down the stairs, I throw on some soft loose shorts and a soft gray tee. I put my long brunette hair in a messy bun and run down the stairs and outside to the car my mom is driving.
"Avery Windsor! Hurry your arse up and get in, before I leave you to rot in this cold!"

I hop into the passenger seat and we drive off to my brother's, Austin, house. We arrive and my mom drops me off. There are sketchy and dark tinted cars outside his house. I ignore them and barge through his front door. Austin and this intimidating man are sitting at the table; they stare at me and Austin looks terrified. I don't say a word and run up to my room upstairs. I knew Austin was into gambling and associated himself with gangs. He was always safe and never got caught, so who is this man? He doesn't look like the police, but someone worse; someone who you should not reckon with. But I know better than to interrupt their meeting.

The day turns into night, and I lay in bed with my pajamas that are just a gray tank top and loose shorts. A big bang shakes the house and I run down the stairs to see the scary man holding Austin up by his throat.
"Where is the girl?" The scary man tightens his grip.
"T-there." Austin struggles to say.
The scary man drops Austin and turns towards me. I run to Austin who is on the floor gasping. The scary man grabs me by my hair and slams me to the floor.
"You will pay for what you did." He seethes. He whistled and three bulky men in suits came in and grabbed me. They drag me towards the door but I kick and scream for Austin to help me, but he just stares with unfocused eyes. The men zip tie my hands and put tape over my mouth before throwing me into a black van. I feel the van driving fast but I am unable to see since the back of the van is blocked from the windows. Suddenly the van is hit and flipped on its side. I hear men shouting and gunshots being fired. The door of the van opens and a man with brown curly hair and blood on his shirt reaches for me. The man reaches for me and pulls me out. I fail to fight back (due to the harsh impact of the crash) before everything goes black.
