The world around Clara dissolved into chaos. The once-sturdy walls of the room buckled and twisted, folding in on themselves. The floor seemed to tremble as though the house was coming apart at the seams.
Clara clutched her head, her vision swirling as the darkness crept in at the edges of her mind. The air was thick, oppressive — like a weight pressing down on her from all sides. She could hear the house's heart beating, the pulse of its malevolent energy reverberating in her chest.
But then, in the midst of the madness, Clara heard a soft voice — a whisper, clear and unmistakable.
*"Clara."*
It was Emily. Her voice, soft but strong, reached Clara across the tumultuous void that had overtaken the room. Clara's eyes snapped open, her body stiff with the effort to stay grounded in the world she now inhabited.
"Emily?" Clara gasped, her voice barely a whisper against the overwhelming noise of the collapsing house.
And then, she saw it.
A figure — soft and ethereal, but unmistakable. Emily's ghostly form stood before her, bathed in pale, shimmering light. She wasn't trapped in the mirror anymore. She was free.
*"You did it, Clara,"* Emily's voice echoed, filled with relief. *"You freed me. You freed us both."*
Clara's chest tightened with emotion as she stepped toward the figure of her friend. But then, as she reached out, Emily's form began to flicker, her features distorting as if caught between two worlds.
*"The house is falling apart,"* Emily said, her voice tinged with sadness. *"But it's not over yet. You have to escape before it pulls you in too."*
Clara's breath caught in her throat. The walls around her continued to crack and splinter, and she could feel the pull of the house's energy growing stronger with each passing second. It was as if it was reaching for her, trying to drag her into the abyss that had claimed so many before.
"*What do I do?*" Clara cried, her voice panicked. "*I can't — *"
*"You know what to do."*
Emily's voice softened, growing more distant with each word.
And then, just as Clara reached out to her, Emily's figure disappeared — vanishing into the thickening darkness.
The house gave one last groan of protest, but Clara didn't hesitate. She ran.
