"Ugh, I'm sooo tired..."

Y/n groaned, her face buried in her pillow as she squinted at the glowing numbers of her clock.

"12 AM..."

Her eyes widened in shock.

"12 AM!!!"

She jumped out of bed, her heart racing as panic set in. "Oh no! Why didn't Taro wake me up?"

In her haste, she stumbled and fell flat on the floor with a loud thud.

"Ouch! Ugh... that's gonna hurt tomorrow," Y/n muttered, rubbing her sore arm as she sat up.

Her little brother Taro stood in the doorway, looking at her with a mixture of amusement and indifference.

"You are so weird," he said, shaking his head.

Y/n shot him an irritated glare. "Taro! Why didn't you wake me up?"

He shrugged, not looking the least bit sorry. "Didn't feel like it," he said with a smirk.

Y/n's eyes narrowed. "And why are you all dressed up?"

Taro's smirk widened into a grin. "I'm going with you to the Blue Lock x U-20 game, duh."

Her heart sank. "What? How—?"

"Haha, Mom bought me a ticket. You didn't think I was gonna let you go alone, did you?" He laughed, turning on his heel and walking out of the room. "See you there, sis."

Y/n stood there for a second, stunned. He's definitely Mom's favorite, she thought bitterly, recalling how she'd begged their mom for a ticket, only to be turned down. Good thing Ms. Isagi got me one...

She opened her mouth to argue, but Taro was already gone, sprinting down the hallway as if he was in a race.

How is he so fast? Y/n wondered, still dazed from her morning mishap.

"OH SHOOT, I NEED TO GET DRESSED!"

Thirty minutes later...

Y/n stood in front of the mirror, looking at her reflection. She couldn't help but smile. She felt... different. She felt like herself again. Her usual, confident self. The past few weeks had been tough—she had felt a little off, but now, standing there in her game day outfit, she felt a sense of refreshment. It was like she was finally starting to reclaim the pieces of herself that had been slipping away.

Her phone buzzed, snapping her out of her thoughts.

"Ugh, who's texting me at this hour?"

She glanced at the message.

Lola: Hey, are you going to my boyfriend's game today? If you are, stay away from him :) He chose me for a reason, haha...

Y/n's brow furrowed as she read the text. Her fingers hovered over her phone screen, debating whether or not to respond.

Why does she do this once a month? Y/n thought bitterly. We used to be so close...

"Whatever. She's a snake anyway."

A bitter laugh escaped her lips. Lola had always known about Y/n's feelings for Isagi, the guy Lola was now dating, and for some reason, she couldn't help but rub in. Lola always acted like she was winning some game Y/n didn't even want to play anymore.

Still, it stung. She glanced down at the message again, then shook her head, locking her phone. It wasn't worth the energy.

With a deep breath, she headed downstairs, calling Taro to remind him to get ready.

The Stadium

The stadium buzzed with excitement as fans poured in, but Y/n felt nothing but a gnawing sense of disappointment. She stood outside the entrance with Taro, the two of them waiting for Ms. Isagi and her husband, who had promised to meet them. But time was slipping away, and they were nowhere to be found.

Where are they? Y/n checked her phone again. The game's about to start...

She paced, glancing back at the stadium doors every few seconds. The weather was turning colder, and dark clouds loomed ominously overhead. It felt like the universe was conspiring against her.

"Taro," she called to her younger brother, who was bouncing on his heels. "They're taking forever. What if something happened? I should probably—"

Taro, unbothered, interrupted her. "Y/n, I'm going in. It's cold, okay?"

Y/n sighed, brushing her damp hair from her face. "Fine, take care of yourself. Don't get lost."

Even though Taro was 13 and practically a teenager, in Y/n's eyes, he would always be her little brother. She couldn't help but worry.

Taro gave her a quick thumbs up before dashing off towards the entrance, disappearing into the crowd.

Y/n stared after him for a moment, before looking back down at her phone. Still no word from Ms. Isagi or her husband.

Ring... ring...

Y/n's heart skipped a beat as she saw Ms. Isagi's name on the screen. She quickly answered. "Hi, is everything alright?"

"Uhm... yeah, but dear, I have to tell you something," Ms. Isagi's voice was apologetic. "We're already inside."

Y/n blinked, confused. "What? Why?"

Ms. Isagi hesitated. "Well, Lola showed up at our doorstep, crying about how her mom didn't buy her tickets, so we gave her yours..."

Y/n felt her chest tighten. Wait, what? Her mind raced. They gave her my ticket?

Before Ms. Isagi could continue, Y/n's frustration bubbled over. "Are you serious right now?" she said, her voice trembling with anger. "That was my ticket! You promised me you'd—"

Ms. Isagi's voice wavered. "Oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry, I—"

Y/n, too upset to hear more, hung up the phone abruptly, cutting her off. The rain began to pour as if the world itself shared her frustration.

I hate the rain, she thought, pushing her hair out of her face as the droplets mingled with the tears threatening to spill. I hate this... I hate my life and that stupid couple.

She walked away from the stadium, her footsteps slow and heavy, each one feeling like it took all the energy she had left. The cold rain clung to her clothes as she found a bench and collapsed onto it, burying her face in her hands.

She had been looking forward to this game for so long, but now all she felt was emptiness. Betrayal. And a deep sense of being forgotten.

I guess I'll just wait for Taro, she thought, her mind numb, not even sure why she was still holding onto the hope of seeing the game.

But as the minutes dragged on, she realized the only person who had ever let her down... was herself.
