Season 1, Episode 1, Part 2: Gem Glow

3rd POV

"Okay, I think my best bet is to recreate what happened the last time my gem glowed." Steven mused aloud as the other Gems got into their previous positions. Emerald hissed, "Amethyst, get off my godd--" "There's a child present!" Pearl exclaimed hurriedly. 

"Gosh darn counter." the green gem finished, feeling like an angry cat who was sprayed with water, crossing his arms as Amethyst slid into the chair next to him. 

"So...Garnet and Amethyst were here. Pearl was by the fridge and Emerald was sitting here." 

"Hm, hm." hummed the boy before pointing at the purple gem. "Amethyst, I think you had your arms crossed." "Okay, your majesty." joked Amethyst, doing as he said. "Emerald, you were leaning on your right hand and the left hand was tucked under." Emerald chuckled, doing as Steven asked. 

"And Pearl, your foot was like this." Steven moved Pearl's right foot even more to the right. "I don't think it works this way, Steven." Pearl said, trying not to squash the boy's hope. "Let him try, P." Emerald waved her off. 

"And Garnet..." Steven made noises of concentration as he moved the red gem's face around. "Yeah!" 

"Wow, I love that look on you, Garnet." Emerald commented, and when Steven turned into the fridge, Garnet sent Emerald a non too child friendly gesture. 

Steven grabbed the ice cream sandwich from earlier, and unwrapped it. "Then I took a bite out of this Cookie Cat. Oh! And I sang the song." he exclaimed before taking a deep breath and started singing rapidly. 

"Uh, he's a frozen treat, new taste, intersetellar war. Now available at  Gergins." An awkward silence filled the room. 

"Aw, it was funnier last time." Steven pouted, before pulling up his shirt to look at his gem. "Maybe I'm not a real Crystal Gem." Steven said dejectedly. Pearl quickly knelt next to the boy with a reassuring smile. "Don't be silly, Steven. Of course you are." 

"And your fun to have around, even if your gem is useless." Amethyst chimed in, earning her hair being flipped over her head by Emerald and a growl from Pearl. 

"I mean, you're one of us Steven." she corrected herself through her hair. "We're not the Crystal Gems without you." Emerald smiled leaning over to ruffle Steven's hair as Garnet nodded behind him with a gentle smile. 

"Yeah, even if I don't have powers, I've still got...cookie cat!" Steven took another bite of his ice cream sandwhich. "So good!" he sighed, his gem gem glowing brightly before a pink shield that resembled a vine wrapped around into the middle where a rose symbol stood. 

The gems gasped, eyes wide. "Steven, it's a shield!" Peal exhaled, eyes sparkling. "Oh, what!" Steven gasped, "I get a shield?! Ohhhh yeah!" "Steven, wait!" Emerald exclaimed, ducking as Steven's shield bounced off the walls and destroyed various objects before landing in the middle of Steven's TV, rendering it useless. 

Amethyst started laughing as Pearl face palmed, Garnent remained monotone and Emerald cautiously peeked up from behind the counter and wincing at the damage. "Ugh, great, that's going to take hours to repair." He grumbled. 

"Oh! Cookie Cat! I summoned my weapon by eating ice cream!" "What's in these things?" wondered Pearl, looking at the wrapper curiously. 

A rumbling caught the Gems' attention as shadows of the Centipeedles from earlier crawled around the house, followed by a larger shadow. "What was that?" asked Steven as they ran out the door. 

"It's the mother!" exclaimed Garnet, Emerald slapping her on her shoulder. "Well, come on, babes. Let's school this mother-" "There's a child present!" Pearl exclaimed. Emerald rolled his eyes before following Garnet as they lured the giant monster to the beach.
