"Cupid 814, please make your way to the room."

Huening Kai's breath caught at the sound of his number being called. His eyes widened for a brief moment before he quickly stood up, nervously wiping his sweaty palms on his pants to clean them. His small wings fluttered behind him, a mix of excitement and anticipation building within him.

This was it. The moment he had been waiting for — the chance to meet him, the one he had looked up to ever since he was a young cupidling: Eros.

Today was it, today, he's going to take his first step out on becoming a full fledge certified cupid!

The nerves in his chest began to twist into tight little knots that weren't going to fade away anytime soon, taking another deep breath as he softly thanked the cupid assistant before he made his way down the celestial hallway, his eyes widening in pure excitement when he saw those large golden doors ahead of him, calling out for him!

By the time he reached the large golden doors, he paused and took a deep breath, this was it — it was finally time to meet Eros. He had spent... forever training for this official moment where he would finally put his cupid training skills to the test! Years of taking classes like archery practice, love potion brewing, and listening to long lectures on tales such as things like "intricate ways of the heart and love!" will finally pay off.

This was it, his first mission awaits him.

Now with confidence and pride washing over him, Huening Kai straightened up properly before pushing the golden doors open — watching them slowly swing open — revealing the grand office that belonged to Eros.

His eyes widened as he took in the sight: the room was bathed in a soft, golden, ethereal light — shining down upon the pure white shelves made out of the best crystals that was offered in the celestial realm, filled with ancient scrolls of every successful matchmaking stories that happened in the history books, along with books and such about the history of Cupids and such.

Mesmerized and amazed by the sight, he slowly glanced down towards the middle of the room where he laid eyes on a large white desk with floating scrolls all around it varying from missions from other cupids or updates of the new love that appeared in the mortal realm — and in the center of it all, there stood the figure of Eros, the legendary god who had been responsible for uniting countless souls towards love and deviation. Forming cupids and helpers to spread that love around now that he was more busier.

Huening Kai's breath hitched, feeling tiny and weak in such an amazing presence, the gods aura was calm yet powerful, and it made him worried that he would mess everything all up in this very moment.

For a few minutes, Eros didn't acknowledge him at all — causing him to patiently wait there for him to notice his presence as the god worked diligently through the many scrolls that floated around him, some still coming into the building through the window all because of Hermes.

It was awkward. Really awkward.

Do I look okay? Oh gosh. Wait. Did I fluff my wings up properly? Oh gosh, what if he makes me do a test run? Get it together, Huening Kai! You have trained your entire life for this! Come on, come on! Be confident—

"Huening Kai."

The deep voice had cut through his thoughts like an arrow strike, making his knees weak as he forced himself to stand properly, using his wings to stay up as he looked up from his spot and over towards Eros who was staring at him with warmth in his gaze, it made his stomach flutter up with excitement knowing that it was finally time.
