Yumi Point of view
And just like that, my highschool life ended with a new beginning. I became a first year collage student and decided to take the course of business and management...it’s not really what I had in mind when I was younger, but I had no choice because my mom wanted me to take this course so when I’m ready, I can take over our business and follow her step. It took me months to think about it, but in the end, she said my decision was “nonsense”.
“Go ahead and introduce yourself, ms Mizuki” Our professor said.
Today is our first day of college, naka tayo na nga ako ngayon sa pinto ng aming classroom, kinakabahan pero what can I do, right? I took a deep breath before taking my first step to enter the room. The atmosphere of the room was heavy, there’s so many new faces, and there are some that I’ve already incounter’d in my highschool.
I was looking at the floor and slowly raised my vision.
“Good morning everyone. I’m Yumi Mizuki, 19, and...” I have no idea how to introduce myself rather than saying my name!
I quickly frowned and focused on what she will have to say.
“Tell us where you’re from and your highschool” she winked.
I took another courage after I heard that. I signed at muling ibinaling sa harapan ang tingin.
“I’m from University of South East Asia, I graduated there in highschool and Uhm.., for now that’s all I can say about myself, thank you” I looked at our professor and waited for his response. Oh fuck, such baduy introduction! So plane, so short and so boring!
That’s so not me.
“If it's okay to ask, do you have a race ms Mizuki?” Our prof asked.
“What made you think so sir?” Hinarap ko siya at umiling lang ito. “Just by your name and your figure.” He simply said.
Her name...it's sounds like...Japanese?”
“She looks like a doll.”
“Ang itim ng mga mata niya. Mukha siyang manika sa Japan, yung may urban legend? Haha” Pabulong na tawa ng kung sino.
“No, sir.” Saad ko na ikinatigil ng mga bulungan. “My mother never told me about my race, neither did my family. My mother is a pure Filipina, and aside from it, I never met or knew my father...” At ayaw kong siyang makilala nor see his face.
“Baka naman yung papa mo yung may lahi? “Learn to be contented for what you hear. If you don't wanna believe it, then find my care.”
The girl looked familiar, I think I know her. And I also think that just by observing her, you can say she has such an attitude.
