Sunette Michaels sighed as droplets of water began to fall from the sky, creating little wet dots on the otherwise dry pavement. She picked up her leisurely speed as the gentle rain turned into heavy downpour, drenching her silk blouse and making her run for shelter under the nearest store. She pushed the door open, causing the beads shake as she pushed past a hanging curtain, earning her a glare from the disheveled looking shop keeper. Adam, as his tag read, gave her a smug grin, almost as though he took pleasure in her pain. His hair looked dirty, like he was too lazy to take a brush to it and he wore loose clothes, obvious not in uniform, as Sunnet had been in there before. She watched Adam as she stalked around the store, throwing quick glances at some of the odd products the store carried. Sunette's eyes shot up as the lights flickered, causing Adam to sigh heavily. He stood up and walked over, sporting an over sincere smile."Could you please stop staring at me?' He asked, stopping Sunette in her tracks. His voice, a musical alto, was unlike anything she had ever heard. It bounced along, rising slightly with each syllable. His voice was perfection.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted help finding..." She trailed off, captured by his eyes, a simple green from a distance, but up close they were light green, with swirls of amber and blue. Sunette soon realized that once again, she was captured by his mysterious character. "I-I-Innocence. I-I want help finding innocence." Adam laughed, either at her stutter or at the fact that she was standing beside the product she was supposedly looking for.
"Alright, look beside you, ma'm." He spun and walked back to the counter, not waiting for a reply. Sunette was still captured by his laugh, a delightful peel that rings through room, that could cause anyone to smile.
"Ma'm? Really?" She let that sink in" Hey! I can't be that much older than you!" She smiled as he rolled his eyes once again.
"Fine. How old are you?" Sunette smiled as she smoothed her skirt, happy with her age.
"21." Adam laughed
"Really?" He looked genuinely surprised.
"How old do I look?" He squinted, teasing her.
"33" Sunettes eyes grew wide as he grinned, enjoying her disbelief.
"I do not!" She scoffed, pulling her hair around her shoulders. "Do I?" He just smiled, hitting a key on the cash register.
"Are you gonna pay for that, or what?" Sunette rolled her shoulders back and took her innocence to the front.
"My name is Sunette, you're Adam, right?" She smiled at his laugh once again.
"Sunette? What kind of the name is that?" She giggled, having had that conversation before.
"Its my name. Thats what kind of name it is." Adam rolled his eyes.
"Well ma'm, here is your change and your receipt is in the bag" Sunette took her bag and thanked him, turning to leave. Her hand was on the door when she heard her name called.
"Sunette?" Adam said once again in his beautiful voice. "You don't look a day over 20." Sunette walked out of the store, a huge smile plastered on her face.
