I stepped into the boutique, the faint scent of roses and vanilla greeting me as the soft light reflected off the glass displays. My eyes swept over the shelves, searching for something that whispered Zhang Hao.
A delicate bracelet caught my attention-silver, with tiny charms dangling like secrets waiting to be discovered. I picked it up, running my thumb over its smooth surface. This... this would look perfect on his wrist. So delicate, so...him.
I moved further in, drawn to a section of perfumes. Lifting a small, crystal bottle to my nose, I inhaled. The soft floral notes reminded me of his aura-gentle yet lingering. My chest tightened at the thought of him wearing it, the scent wrapping around him like an invisible thread connecting us.
At the counter, I spotted satin ribbons in soft hues. My fingers brushed over a pale pink one. Would he touch this ribbon? Would he smile, wondering who sent it?
The sales clerk approached, breaking my thoughts. "Are these for someone special?"
I stiffened, my mask slipping for a moment. "That's none of your concern," I said curtly, quickly looking away.
Buying the gifts from there I left the boutique. My mind filled with him. Just him, nothing else
_______________
The street was quiet as I approached his house, the faint glow of the porch light illuminating the path to his door. In my hands was the package: the bracelet, the perfume, and a delicate scarf-wrapped perfectly in white paper and tied with that pale pink ribbon.
My heart thudded harder with every step. I crouched to place the box on the doorstep, my fingers lingering on the ribbon as I adjusted it, making sure it was flawless.
"This is for you," I whispered, the words escaping before I could stop them. "You don't know it yet, but you're mine. You've always been mine."
I straightened and took a step back, letting the shadows swallow me whole. The thrill of leaving him this gift, of imagining his reaction, sent a rush of warmth through me.
I turned and disappeared into the night, a ghost bound by obsession, yet tethered to him by an unspoken promise.
______________
I clenched my fists, the silence of the mansion amplifying my thoughts. The image of him-his soft, delicate features and the way he unknowingly drew me in-consumed every corner of my mind. Why was this so hard?why couldn't I just make him mine already ?
The frustration boiled over before I could stop it. My hand swung out, colliding with the edge of the table. The vase sitting on it wobbled, then crashed to the floor, shattering into jagged pieces. The sound echoed in the room, sharp and jarring, but it did nothing to ease the storm in my chest.
"Damn it," I muttered under my breath, staring at the broken shards. That vase had been some imported piece, worth more than I cared to remember. Not that it mattered. Nothing mattered right now except him. Zhang Hao.
I want him to be happy, I want him to smile, to lit the whole world with his smile. Would he like the gifts? Would he even open them?
I don't know, but all I want is to see a smile on his face. I needed to make his mood better, and that was the only thing in my mind at that moment.
Are the gifts too much? Or perhaps too little?
My phone buzzed in my pocket, the sound cutting through the tension. Pulling it out, I saw Ollie's name on the screen. Perfect timing. I needed a distraction, something to pull me out of this spiral.
