I wearily tried to chase after Dally, but soon slowed to a stop because of exhaustion from the rumble. I sat down on a bench just outside the hospitable and pulled out a cigarette. I had nothing to do, so I was left to my thoughts for a while, "Johnny is dead, Dally is gone, I am going to court, and my life is a total mess." I soon realized Dally was probably about to make the biggest mistake of his life, I remembered his voice Saying , " I been carryin' a heater. It ain't loaded, but it sure does help a bluff."
A rush of thoughts floated to my head as I bolted off the ground to go get help, " What if he commits suicide, what if the police doesn't know his heaters a bluff and they catch him?" I bolted to my feet and ran to the nearest phone booth to call the only people I knew could help, the gang. I put in all the change I had and dialed. Darry responded and later I realized I was clenching the phone so hard with nervous energy my knuckles turned white.I ran back home and met up with the gang, Sodapop, Darry, Steve, Two-bit, and for some reason Cherry showed up. Cherry told me in the movie theater she was afraid of loving Dally and I know why now. It's because she doesn't want to be in the same situation she had with Bob, a drunk or troublemaker. Darry and Soda greeted me in a hug, but suddenly Darry pulled away worried. "You feel awful hot, maybe you should stay and rest," he said.
Soda agreed and tried to convince me to rest, but I argued because I didn't want to get them worried. I did feel like sleeping. I felt like laying down on the cool grass at the lot with the wind blowing on my face next to Johnny talking about the stars... I began drifting off, No! I snapped out of it. Johnny was dead and I need to find Dally. I need to find Dally for Johnny. It's what he would have wanted. I finally shooed them off while I told them to begin the search.
We split up, so Steve and Sodapop went to check the gas station, Darry decided to see if he went to our house, and I went with Two-bit to go check the lot. I don't know where Cherry was going, but she went off in her own direction. When we were walking my feet felt as though they were stone and my body felt as heavy as an elephant and when I felt like I was going to collapse we spotted someone in the lot.
We found Dally smoking a cigarette and scowling to himself. Before I could even get my voice to work again I saw Cherry walking along the sidewalk completely unaware of Dally, but when I was about to call out Dally spotted her first. "Oh would you look at that you're the red haired broad I saw at the movie theater," Dally said greeting her while laughing to himself.
"Oh would you be quiet Dally I was just coming here to check on you," Cherry said rolling her eyes.
"Check on me why?" Dally says with his eyebrows raising.
"Ponyboy sent the whole gang to look for you. We were all worried you were going to do something stupid. "
"Well I wasn't! Anything I do is because I want to do it. Would you leave me alone already! You made it clear to me that you disliked me from the very beginning"
Cherry sighed, "We also were all sorry about Johnny and wanted to make sure you were alright."
Instead of being a gentlemen and saying thanks for caring, Dally slapped her straight across the face. "Don't talk about Johnny!" Dally said his face red with embarrassment and his breath coming out short and staggered. I saw Cherry clutching her cheek almost in tears, so I gathered up my courage and marched over.
"Dally stop it!" I said not liking what he did to Cherry. I had only stood up to Dally once and that was with Johnny... I realized I just made a really big mistake. Dally grabbed me by the shirt and pushed me on the grass. It was enough to tell me to back off, but it didn't hurt. I just sat there getting the message and listened.

Chally ( The Outsiders fanfic)
FanfictionMy friend and I rewrote The Outsiders chapter 10 because we didn't like the fact Dally died. This chapter is still in Ponyboy's point of view but it focuses on Dally and why he didn't kill himself.
