As the corrosive rain pounded the highway, tae-hoon and nimesh found themselves desperately sought refuge, "Don't worry tae brother, this polythene sheet will protect us from acid rain" Nimesh reassured. Tae-hoon in denial said, "You are going to get us killed man, if this doesn't work" As the rain continued to fall and the duo navigated the highway, they were relieved that their plan worked and the polythene withstood the corrosive rain.
While at the other side of daejeon, Jeong and Yuna was ready to embark on a new journey towards the asylum,
They packed their bags, belongings, and with a glimmer of hope they made it out from the apartment, their plan was to run during rain intervals, and to stop and seek shelter during the downpour. As Yuna and Jeong walked side by side, the desolate landscape around them seemed to fade into the background. The only sound was the soft crunch of gravel beneath their feet and the distant rumble of thunder.
Yuna, lost in thought, suddenly stumbled on a loose rock. Jeong instinctively reached out, grasping her hand to steady her. Their eyes met, and for a moment, time stood still.
As they stood there, the sky above them seemed to darken, as if the storm was closing in. But Yuna and Jeong didn't notice. They were too caught up in the spark that had ignited between them.
Without a word, Jeong drew Yuna closer, his eyes never leaving hers. She didn't resist, her heart pounding in anticipation. As they stood there, the wind whipping their hair into a frenzy, Jeong leaned in, his lip was about to rub her that sudden a lightning strike down the land.
As they broke apart for air, Yuna's eyes sparkled, Jeong smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners, Yuna pushed him back innocently.
As they continued on their way, they stumbled upon an abandoned grocery store. "The rain is about to start, let's take shelter in here" Jeong suggested.
(Same Day Evening)
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Tae-hoon and Nimesh stumbled upon a phone booth, its exterior cracked and worn from the corrosive rain. They exchanged a hopeful glance, but their faces fell as they realized their phones were dead, disconnected from the network. The reason became painfully clear: the phone tower lay melted and twisted, a victim of the corrosive rain that had ravaged the landscape.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Tae-hoon and Nimesh stumbled upon a phone booth, its exterior cracked and worn from the corrosive rain. They exchanged a hopeful glance, as their phones were dead, disconnected from the network. The reason was painfully clear: the phone tower lay melted and twisted, a victim of the corrosive rain that had ravaged the landscape.
"Please God, make this payphone work" Nimesh whispered, his eyes closed in desperation, as they both squeezed into the cramped booth. Tae-hoon inserted a coin, and they held their collective breath. Miraculously, the payphone sprang to life, its mechanical voice asking for the number.
Tae-hoon and Nimesh erupted into cheers, hugging each other tightly in relief. Tears of joy pricked at the corners of their eyes as they high-fived each other.
Finally, Tae-hoon composed himself enough to dial Jeong-yun's number. The phone rang, and Tae-hoon's heart skipped a beat as he waited for someone to pick up.
Despite the odds, the payphone somehow managed to establish a tenuous connection to the damaged phone network. Maybe it was a fleeting moment of clarity in the midst of chaos, or perhaps it was just a stroke of luck.
Whatever the reason, the phone call connects, and Tae-hoon's voice comes through to Jeong-yun's phone, albeit briefly. The connection is weak and crackly, but it's enough for Tae-hoon to convey his message... for 10 precious seconds.
"Hey Jeong! It's tae-hoon, I don't have enough time, just listen to me!" Tae-hoon yelled without wasting a second, he then catch a breath to which Jeong replied "Alright!" from the other side, "Currently we are heading towards an asylum, join us" tae-hoon yelled again to which Jeong uttered in a cracked voice,
"We are already.... In.... The way!" DISCONNECTED.As the phone call dropped, Tae-hoon's face lit up with a mix of satisfaction and relief. Despite the brief connection, he had managed to convey his message, and Jeong-yun's response had been reassuring.
Nimesh, who had been anxiously waiting outside the phone booth, noticed the change in Tae-hoon's demeanor. "What happened?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.
Tae-hoon grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Jeong-yun is on the right track. He's heading to the asylum, just like we planned."
Nimesh's face broke into a wide smile. "That's amazing news! We're finally going to meet up and get out of this crazy place."
Tae-hoon nodded, feeling a sense of hope that he hadn't felt in a long time. "We'll seek refuge together, far from this apocalypse. We'll start anew, and leave this nightmare behind."
As Tae-hoon and Nimesh walked away from the phone booth, they felt a sense of optimism wash over them.
But little did they know, their relief was short-lived. The universe had other plans, and a sinister convergence of natural disasters was brewing on the horizon.
The skies already turning dark and foreboding, began to churn and twist with an otherworldly energy. The air grew thick with an eerie, electric charge, and the ground began to tremble with a low, ominous rumble.
Tae-hoon and Nimesh exchanged a nervous glance, their senses on high alert. Something was coming, something big, and they had no idea what it was or how to prepare for it.
The night, which had already been fraught with danger and uncertainty, was about to get a whole lot worse.
