Shiv begins to tremble uncontrollably, his small body frozen like stone. His uncle shakes him vigorously, demanding a response, but Shiv remains silent, unable to utter a word.
Leaning in close again, his uncle whispers the cruel truth: Shiv's parents were in a car accident and died on the spot. "You'll never see them again," he adds coldly.
Before Shiv can fully process the shock, his uncle grabs him and locks him in a small, dark room. The space is suffocatingly black—so dark that Shiv can’t even see his own shadow. The silence is deafening, the air thick with fear. Shiv is paralyzed, unable to scream, unable to cry.
In his anguish, he pulls at his own hair, bites his hands until they sting, and scratches at his legs until they bleed. His young mind is overwhelmed, unable to comprehend the cruelty and loss he’s just been thrust into. He’s trapped in a void of pain and despair, unable to find a way out.
Meanwhile, his uncle, consumed by greed, visits a lawyer. Shiv’s father had been a renowned scientist and a successful businessman, leaving behind a fortune and a legacy. The uncle explains the situation to the lawyer, weaving a web of lies.
"Did your brother have any family besides those two?" the lawyer asks, referring to Shiv's parents.
"No," the uncle lies smoothly. "The three of them died in the accident. The car was burned so badly it’s impossible to tell if there were two or three bodies."
The lawyer nods. "If that’s the case, the property is legally yours now."
Hearing this, the uncle’s face lights up with joy. He feels like the luckiest man alive. His greed has triumphed—or so he believes.
But back in that dark, suffocating room, Shiv lies curled up on the floor, buried deep under the weight of his pain. The world outside carries on, but for Shiv, it feels as though his life has already ended.
