I was cold in the morning. I am rarely cold in the morning. And it is rare for me to wake up before my alarm which happens to be the song party in the USA. But as I lay there I know my alarm hasn't gone off as I'm greeted to silence.

I didn't want to get out of the blanket, my only source of warmth right now. I live in a house in the woods with my parents. I was born human.

See, when the sirens were sent to this world instead of equestria Adagio was the only one of us who had not been reborn entirely. It was only when Adagio's physical form manifested that me and Aria had gotten back what was taken when we were sent here, our powers. And in Aria's case her memories of equestria.

From the way Aria and Adagio treat me now, I'm not so sure I want to remember my past life. I don't know if I'm ready to know what they'd have me do back then, or if I had wanted it.

I rolled over in my bed to see my alarm with the numbers 3:52. I groaned as I realized I would not be falling back to sleep. So, I decided I might as well get some chores done around the house.

I do a few of my chores like splitting fire wood early in the morning because it gives me something to do when I'm waiting for Adagio and Aria. And it often calms me down before I have to deal with Aria and Adagio. They insisted I meet up with them for breakfast and dinner most days except when I can't because they often discuss their plans for how to use our magic to rule this world. Well, they did until we lost our magic again.

I was confused when I finally had my jacket on and checked the fireplace to realize someone just started a fire. My parents were fast asleep so this was concerning. But as I looked around, nothing else seemed to be out of the ordinary, nothing missing, nothing broken.

I went outside to split some wood and put the split pieces under the roofed area on the porch. We'd been keeping a large amount of 6 inch rounds in the shed my dad had built last year for them to dry out, and we'd only been splitting them in winter so we could burn them in the fireplace.

I was confused because there was a stranger outside bringing a few pieces of split wood up to the porch. When he placed it with the rest of the split wood I realized there was enough wood already on the porch for a week.

"May I come in and warm up by your fire? It is cold out here." The man shivered. He was wearing a winter jacket way thicker than mine. But it was soaked from all the melted snow and sweat from his hard work that I still wasn't quite sure why he was out here doing.

"S-sure," I said quietly, then I let him in. "Would you like some coffee?"

"Not really a big coffee fan, but thank you." I now just realized the guy had a small bag. He pulled a teapot out of it. "Can you fill this with water if that's not too much trouble?"

"Not at all," I filled the tea pot with water and returned to the fireplace to find the guy pulling peppermint tea packets out of his bag and duping them into some wood cups

After the water was heated on the fireplace to a boil, the stranger asked if I wanted some of the tea. I politely declined the offer.

"You are such a nice girl. You must have many friends."

"Not really." I admitted, "the only 'friends' I have, I'm not even sure I can call them that. They only want me there because of the connection between our powers."

"It's always about power, isn't it?"

"Exactly, and I don't want to have powers if it means everyone hates me for it."

The stranger looked up at me and smiled, "then ditch your 'friends' and find people who actually care about you."

"You're right, I should."

"Thank you for letting me come in from the cold. Here is something to show my gratitude." The guy pulled a necklace out of his pocket and I shuddered but took it as it looked like the one I'd gotten shattered.

"Thank you." I hesitantly put it in my pocket.
