The city glimmered under the soft glow of streetlights, the occasional chatter of passersby blending with the faint hum of distant traffic. It was a quiet night, the kind that carried a sense of calm and serenity. Jungkook and Seokjin walked side by side along a cobblestone path that wound through the heart of the city, their footsteps muffled against the stones.
The park was alive with quiet life-couples strolling hand in hand, friends laughing as they shared stories, the faint sound of a musician playing their guitar in the distance.
Jungkook glanced at Seokjin, whose eyes flickered with curiosity as he took in the scene. The older vampire's face was serene, but Jungkook could see the faint glimmer of wistfulness in his expression.
"What's on your mind?" Jungkook asked softly, nudging Seokjin's arm with his elbow.
Seokjin hesitated, his gaze lingering on a young couple seated on a nearby bench, their laughter light and unguarded. "I used to envy them," he admitted, his voice quiet.
"Who?" Jungkook asked, his brows furrowing.
"Humans," Seokjin said, gesturing subtly toward the couple. "Couples like them. I would watch them from afar, wondering what it must be like. To walk together, laugh together, just... exist together. No secrets. No fear of time."
Jungkook's chest tightened at the raw honesty in Seokjin's voice.
"But now," Seokjin continued, turning to look at Jungkook with a small smile, "I don't feel that way anymore. Because I have you."
Jungkook's heart swelled, and he couldn't help the grin that spread across his face. "You're going to make me blush," he teased, though his voice was filled with warmth.
Seokjin rolled his eyes, though the faintest hint of pink dusted his cheeks. "I'm being serious."
"I know," Jungkook said, reaching out to take Seokjin's hand in his own. "And I'm being serious when I say I'm the luckiest guy in the world."
Seokjin's lips quirked into a shy smile, but before he could respond, Jungkook pulled him toward a nearby bench. "Come on," he said, tugging gently. "Let's sit for a bit."
They settled on the bench, the soft glow of a nearby lamppost casting a golden halo around them. Jungkook turned to Seokjin, his grin turning mischievous.
"You know," he began, leaning closer, "I think you're even cuter when you're flustered."
Seokjin blinked at him, his brows knitting together. "I'm not flustered," he said, his voice indignant.
Jungkook chuckled, poking Seokjin's cheek lightly. "Sure you're not. But I can see it-your ears are turning red."
Seokjin swatted his hand away, pouting slightly. "You're impossible."
"And you're adorable," Jungkook countered, his voice softening as he leaned closer. "My adorable, perfect Seokjin."
The pout on Seokjin's lips deepened, but his eyes betrayed his embarrassment. "Stop it," he murmured, though the blush on his cheeks only grew.
Jungkook smirked, brushing a strand of hair from Seokjin's face. "Why? I love making you blush. It's like my favorite thing."
Seokjin huffed, crossing his arms. "You're insufferable."
"And you love me for it," Jungkook said with a grin, leaning in to press a soft kiss to Seokjin's cheek.
Seokjin turned to protest, but Jungkook caught his lips instead, silencing him with a gentle kiss. It was sweet and slow, filled with the kind of love that made the world around them fade away.
