It all began on the onset of summer holidays in Lance High School....

"Avery, a talk?" I removed my headphones as I heard Miss Jones talk to me. She would come to me whenever she wanted me to help a student out because 'apparently' I was smart enough to let 5 students live off of my knowledge.

"What?! No, not him. Anyone, but him." My reaction may seem exaggerating but trust me, you would not wanna tutor the bad boy, Lucas Thompson.

We used to be neighbours and he was the shittiest person I had ever encountered. He had no remorse and I'm still not over for the things he had done. Because of him, I had to freaking go to the school looking like Oompa Loompa. And that's just a part of it, he even put bleach in my shampoo shrugging it off as giving me a makeover.

I hated him to the deepest of my core and I don't think I have any sanity left in me to bear his nonsense.

"You must do it, Avery. He really needs the help and you're the best person I could think of. Would you please do this favor for your classmate?" By the sounds of it, she wasn't really giving me a choice. It was just a matter of 'how long until I say yes' situation so I just agreed.

Figured it would be a great time to give him payback and return him the favor.

The next day, Miss Jones went to fetch Lucas as I passed my time reading a book in the library. The library was almost empty, the students here were not serious about their academics since their parents were well off and a phone call with slipping a few notes would do their work. Though we were well off too, I wanted to build my own future. It was something I was always passionate about.

My gaze averts from the book when I hear the wooden door creak open.

He still has that stupid smirk on and the mischief in his eyes as he notices me. His features were more sharper with slight hints of hazel glints in his hunter eyes, sharp jawline and he looked more fit.

"Hey, princess." He used to give that stupid nickname to me to piss me off. He found out my secret diary where I had mentioned about how my future man should treat me and didn't let go of it from that day.

I scoffed in annoyance as the Miss Jones took her leave. I took a deep breath before faking a grin as I asked him about his weakness in history.

He scratched at back of his neck and looked at me hopelessly giving me the answer.

The study session took about 2 hours and the portion wasn't even that big but he literally had the braincell of an amoeba and zero attention span.

I even relied on just giving up because he kept on retaliating and debating on literal facts. At some point, even I felt like I need help.

Now it was my plan's time to take off.

"So, you should come by at my house today. My mom mentions your name here and there and it's been a while so...." I suggest trying not to look suspicious. This was probably the most serious I've ever been with especially him.

"Does the princess want me in her house? How cute. Sure I'll come if you insist." I wanted to wipe that stupid smug off his face but for things to go according to my plan, I just kept agreeing with him.
