Maya leaned back on her bed, staring at her phone screen, where Lucifer's mischievous smirk greeted her through the video call. The month at home had been a whirlwind of emotions—relief at reuniting with her family, nostalgia for the simpler life she had left behind, and a constant, growing longing for Lucifer.

"I swear, Lucifer," she said with a mock scolding tone, "if you make one more suggestive comment, my mom is going to walk in, and I'll die of embarrassment."

Lucifer laughed, the deep, husky sound sending shivers down her spine. "What? I was just suggesting that maybe you wear that dress I sent you on your first day back at college. Totally innocent."

Maya rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress her smile. Their late-night calls had become her lifeline during the holiday. Their relationship had evolved from a storm of passion and uncertainty to something far more intimate and playful, albeit still tinged with the chaos that defined Lucifer.

"You're impossible," she said, shaking her head.

"And you love it," he teased.

As the call ended, Maya sighed contentedly. The countdown to her return to France was ticking away, and with each passing day, her anticipation grew.

Stepping back into the familiar streets of France felt like stepping into a dream. The brisk air, the chatter of students, and the comforting hum of activity at her college all reminded Maya of the life she had built for herself.

Her phone buzzed as she walked into her dorm, dragging her luggage behind her.

Lucifer: "Welcome back, angel. Dinner at my place tonight?"

She bit her lip, her heart fluttering. "He doesn't waste any time, does he?" she murmured to herself.

Her roommate raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess—your prince charming?"

Maya nodded, unable to hide her smile.

By evening, she found herself standing outside Lucifer's sprawling mansion once again. The gates opened as if by magic, and a staff member greeted her warmly, leading her inside.

The mansion was as grand as she remembered, but tonight it felt different. The air was filled with the aroma of a lavish meal being prepared, and the hum of conversation echoed faintly from the dining hall.

Lucifer appeared at the top of the sweeping staircase, looking effortlessly dashing in a tailored black suit. "There she is," he said, descending the stairs with his usual swagger. "You look stunning."

Maya smiled nervously, her simple navy dress suddenly feeling out of place in the grandeur of his home.

"Relax," Lucifer whispered, taking her hand and guiding her into the dining hall.
