The days following the dinner at Lucifer's mansion were an emotional whirlwind for Maya. She hadn't expected his father's harsh words, nor the bombshell revelation about a prearranged engagement. Even more painful was Lucifer's reluctance to discuss it, brushing it off with vague assurances. For Maya, that silence was a betrayal. How could he not tell her?

Lucifer's messages and calls went unanswered, and her once-busy phone now lay dormant. She focused on her studies, burying herself in work and ignoring the ache in her chest.

"Maya, you need to see this!" her roommate burst into the room one afternoon, breathless and wide-eyed.

Maya looked up from her desk, puzzled. "What's wrong?"

"It's Lucifer," her roommate said. "He's on the roof of the college."

Maya's heart skipped a beat. "What?"

"He's on the edge, Maya. He's saying something about you."

Before her roommate could finish, Maya was already running out the door, her heart pounding. The idea of Lucifer—reckless, unpredictable Lucifer—on the roof filled her with dread.

A crowd had gathered below the building, murmuring anxiously as they looked up at Lucifer, who stood precariously close to the edge of the roof. His disheveled hair caught in the wind, and his piercing gaze scanned the crowd below.

When he spotted Maya pushing her way through the throng, his expression softened.

"Maya!" he called, his voice cutting through the chatter.

"What are you doing, Lucifer?" Maya shouted, her voice trembling.

He smiled faintly, a mixture of mischief and desperation in his eyes. "I'm doing what I should have done days ago."

Before Maya could respond, Lucifer dropped to one knee on the roof, pulling a small black box from his pocket. He held it up for all to see.

"Maya, I love you," he declared, his voice unwavering. "I can't imagine my life without you. You've shown me what it means to care, to love beyond money, power, and everything else that used to matter. Will you marry me?"

The crowd gasped, and Maya felt the weight of hundreds of eyes on her. Tears blurred her vision as she looked up at him, her emotions a storm of anger, fear, and undeniable love.

"You're insane, Lucifer!" she cried, but she couldn't stop the smile breaking through her tears. "Yes, you idiot. Yes!"

Cheers erupted from the crowd as Lucifer grinned triumphantly, stepping back from the edge and making his way down.
