Reverie's POV

I search for my name on the board.

Shinso - Aizawa

This should be interesting. I look up from my desk at Shinso to find he is already looking at me. I give him an eager smile. He was right, this project was going to be fun. Normally, my parents would never let me walk around Musutafu. That's too dangerous Reverie. I could already hear the nag in their voices. But a project?? Now that's an excuse that they can't say no to.

But I have to contain myself. I don't want Shinso to think I'm totally nutballs crazy.

"So," I start. "I guess we're partners."

"Guess so," he says. His face is neutral. Although it hurts a little that he's not at least pretending to be happy to be my partner, I brush it off. If I can trick anyone into being my friend, this is the perfect opportunity to do it. Now I have a mission: befriend Shinso before he even knows what hit him.

On our way out of the classroom, I grab one of the instruction packets from the teacher's desk. And boy, is it thick. I flip through the pages as we make our way down the halls.

"Oh fuck," I say. Shinso turns his head toward me. "We have a paper due end of day Friday. And I want you to guess how many pages it has to be."

I turn my head so our eyes meet. He doesn't seem enthused.

"How many?" He asks.

"You have to guessss," I say playfully. "Come on. What do you think is a reasonable amount of pages for a paper we only have like three days to write."

"Uh- five pages? I guess?"

"EHH!" I mimic a buzzer sound. "Alas, that was a valiant guess. But no. We must, in fact, write twenty pages for our paper."

"Twenty? Are you kidding?" He asks. He snatches the packet from my hands. I point to the paper where it says:

Paper Requirements:

20 pages, 12pt font, Double-Spaced

"Son of a bitch," he says. "Guess we should get to work."

I laugh. "Alright then, where should we go in the city?" I'm hoping he knows of somewhere good. Because to be honest, I've never really gone into the city alone. Sure I might go to the library or the park or somewhere near the suburbs where I live. But into the city? Nope.

"I was thinking, maybe we could start by the central train station?" He says. "I feel like there's always some kind of commotion going on down there."

A commotion? Well that's only partly terrifying. But there's no way I'm gonna let him know that I'm too scared to even go to the Musutafu train station. So I say, "Sounds good to me."

I follow him outside the tall entrance doors to UA. And goodness, I never get over this view. With the blue skyline, the blossom petals floating through the air. I don't even notice I've paused until I see Shinso a couple feet ahead of me. He turns around and quirks his head at me. The wind blows through his purple hair, and I try not to smile.

"Sorry," I say. "Got a little lost in thought."

He looks at me like I'm crazy. "Alrighty then," he says.

Shinso's POV

We enter the train station, and I can sense Reverie's awe. I feel her pace slow. I look at her face, and I can tell she has never seen this place before. I resist the urge to make fun of her, so I just keep walking. I swipe my card at the turnstiles and move past the bars.
