When my mom woke up, reality hit her hard. It wasn't something she wanted to face. She tried calling my dad over and over, but he didn't pick up. She reached out to everyone close to him, but no one responded. It was as though they had all conspired against her. She was devastated.

I saw her pacing, restless and lost. I had already seen the pictures myself, scrolling through Facebook with trembling hands. There she was-the other woman-an Edo lady, not even a foreigner. My dad, her husband, was standing beside her in a wedding suit, smiling. And there was my aunt, the one my mom trust with them in another picture, the woman was really in Nigeria I laughed sadly

I hated my dad in that moment. How could love turn into this? Four years, and he shattered every promise he ever made. I glanced at my mom, her once-strong frame now frail. Her heartbreak was written all over her face, and it tore me apart.

Finally, after many attempts, my dad picked up her call.

"Hello?" his voice was cautious.

"You finally decided to answer me?" my mom said, her voice shaking but sharp.

"Come home now," my mom demanded, tears streaming down her face. "Angel is very sick. She can't breathe properly. Come and see your daughter before it's too late."

It was a lie, but it worked. My dad arrived that evening. The tension in the house was so thick, you could almost feel it pressing on your chest. My mom had told us to sit in the room, but I peeked through the door. I wanted to see his face, the face of the man who had betrayed us.

My mom waited until he sat down before she threw the phone onto the table. "Look at this," she said. Her voice was cold, but her hands were trembling. "Explain this to me!"

My dad picked up the phone and froze. The blood drained from his face as he stared at the wedding pictures.

"Who is she?" my mom demanded, her voice breaking. "You married her? And you had the nerve to hide it from me? you brought shame to me and to this family!"

"It's not what you think, " he stammered, his voice weak. "She...she's pregnant, and I had no choice."

"No choice?!" my mom's voice rose. "So this is your excuse for destroying your family? You had no choice?!"

She was sobbing now, but her anger burned through the tears. "I gave you everything, Daniel. My youth, my trust, my heart! I stood by you when you had nothing, and this is how you repay me?!"

My dad tried to reach for her hands. , I still love you. Please try to understand. I made a mistake-"

"A mistake?!" she screamed. "A mistake is forgetting an anniversary. This? This is betrayal! Don't you dare sit there and call it a mistake!"

I saw my mom grab a knife from the kitchen. Her hands shook, but her grip was firm. "If you won't fix this, Daniel, I swear I'll kill you and myself right here. I have nothing left to live for."

We froze. My siblings and I sat in the corner, holding each other tightly, not knowing what to do. My dad stepped back, his hands raised. "Mama miracle he scream, put that down. Don't do something you'll regret."

"Regret? I already regret trusting you!" she shouted. Her voice cracked with pain. "How could you do this to me? To us?!"

Panicked, my dad called his cousin for help. Within minutes, we heard banging on the door. My mom blocked the door with her body, refusing to let him leave. "You're not going anywhere until you fix this!"

When the door finally burst open, my dad's cousin rushed in and pulled my dad out. My mom collapsed on the floor, screaming. My dad didn't even look back. He left, just like that.

The next day, we heard he had gone to the other woman's family to perform the traditional marriage rites. My mom sat on the floor, silent, broken, refusing to eat or speak. I watched her, helpless, and the hatred I felt for my dad grew deeper.
