Flashback : Five years before

The vibrant lights of the club flickered in sync with the heavy bass of the music. Noeul stepped out of the bathroom, adjusting his shirt and running a hand through his hair. His best friend, Peat, was sitting in a booth near the dance floor, a drink in hand, chatting and laughing with a few strangers.

As Noeul made his way to Peat, a man intercepted him.

“Hey there,” the man said with a smirk, his gaze lingering a little too long. “I’m Mark. What’s your name?”

Noeul’s discomfort was immediate. He stepped back slightly, maintaining a polite tone. “Sorry, sir. I’m not interested.”

Mark’s smirk faltered, replaced by a stubborn expression. “Don’t be like that. Let me buy you a drink.”

“No, thank you,” Noeul said firmly and tried to walk away, but Mark grabbed his wrist, pulling him back.

“Don’t play hard to get,” Mark said, leaning closer, attempting to kiss him.

“Hey! What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Peat’s voice rang out as he appeared beside them, his tone sharp and protective.

Mark scowled as Peat stepped between him and Noeul, forcing him to back off.

“Get off me!” Noeul snapped, his voice trembling with anger and embarrassment.

Mark’s face darkened as he straightened his jacket. “You’ll regret this,” he hissed before storming off.

Peat placed a reassuring hand on Noeul’s shoulder. “Are you okay, bro?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Let’s just leave,” Noeul replied, his voice unsteady.

“Don’t worry about him,” Peat said, guiding him toward the exit.

The next day, Noeul and Peat arrived at their university for their first shuttle club session. The warm-up was fun, and Noeul felt his stress melting away. Afterward, he headed to the locker room to change while Peat waited outside.

Once on the court, Noeul played with his friends, laughing and enjoying the game. By the time they left for home, he felt content and relaxed.

That evening, as Noeul was about to fall asleep, his phone buzzed. Curious, he unlocked it to find a message from an unknown number. Attached was a video.

His breath hitched as he opened it, his face going pale. The video was of him in the locker room, changing his clothes.

“No…” Noeul whispered, his hands trembling.

Horrified, he read the accompanying message:

You should be more careful, Noeul. If you report this, I’ll make sure the whole university sees it. You’re famous, aren’t you? Don’t make it worse for yourself.

“Peat!” Noeul called out, his voice breaking.

Peat rushed into the room. “What’s wrong?”

Wordlessly, Noeul handed him the phone. Peat’s jaw tightened as he watched the video, his anger boiling over.

“Who sent this?” Peat demanded.

“The number says it’s… Mark,” Noeul said weakly.

“That bastard!” Peat growled. “Don’t worry. We’ll handle this.”

Peat quickly hacked into Mark’s phone, deleting the video and any backups he could find. Before logging out, he sent a warning:

If you ever try something like this again, you’ll regret it. Stay away from Noeul.

Noeul nodded, relief washing over him
Four years passed, and Noeul had graduated from university. He was ready to begin his career and arrived at a corporate building for a personal assistant (PA) interview.

After clearing the initial rounds, he was escorted to the CEO’s office for the final interview.

“Good luck,” Peat had said earlier that morning. “You’ve got this!”

As Noeul waited in the lobby, an employee leaned over and whispered, “The boss is… intense. Most PAs don’t last a month. Be careful.”

“Thanks for the heads-up,” Noeul said, though his nerves spiked.

Moments later, he was ushered into a sleek office. Behind the large desk sat a man with a commanding presence, his sharp eyes assessing Noeul.

“Come in,” the CEO said, his deep voice making Noeul’s pulse quicken.

“I’m Noeul,” he introduced himself, trying to appear confident.

“I’m Boss,” the CEO replied, gesturing for Noeul to sit.

The interview was intense, with  Boss asking tough questions, but Noeul held his ground. By the end, Boss nodded.

“You’re hired,” Boss said. “Report tomorrow.”

“Thank you, sir. I won’t let you down,” Noeul replied with a slight bow.

Back to present

Noeul stirred awake, blinking against the morning light. He turned his head to find Boss lying beside him, watching him with an unreadable expression.

“You’re awake,” Boss said, a smirk tugging at his lips.

“Why are you staring at me?” Noeul grumbled, his voice still groggy.

“You look cute when you’re sleeping,” Boss teased, leaning closer.

Noeul tried to sit up but winced. “Ugh, my legs! I can’t even walk after last night.”

Boss chuckled, his tone smug. “You didn’t complain then.”

“You’re such a jerk,” Noeul muttered, though his cheeks flushed.

Boss stretched and stood, his presence commanding as always. “Come on, we’re late for work.”

“I can’t even stand,” Noeul groaned.

“Then I’ll help you,” Boss said, swooping him into his arms.

“Boss! Put me down!” Noeul protested, but Boss only smirked, carrying him to the bathroom.

After a refreshing shower together, they made their way to the dining area, where breakfast was laid out.

Boss pulled out a chair for Noeul, then sat beside him. They ate in comfortable silence, the occasional playful banter adding warmth to the moment.

“You’re eating too little,” Boss remarked, placing another piece of toast on Noeul’s plate.

“I’ll eat when you stop being so bossy,” Noeul shot back, though he accepted the toast.

Boss leaned closer, his voice dropping to a husky murmur. “You love it when I’m bossy.”

Noeul’s face turned red, and he quickly stuffed his mouth with food to avoid responding.

Boss chuckled, clearly enjoying his reaction.
