COLETTE LET OUT A relieved sigh the second she stepped off that plane. She hated flying. She'd always get nauseous due to her anxiety about flying and her skin would always feel so dry after. The whole experience is something Colette would prefer to avoid.
Unfortunately her love for journalism means travel. Thankfully, winter break means she can go home and rest. Her sister promised to come pick her up from the airport in Nice. "Lettie!" The excited yell of her sister, Davina, caught her attention. Thankfully just in time to brace herself before her sister slammed into her. "A little warning would be nice."
Davina didn't hear her and continued to squeeze the life out of her sister. "Vina—" Colette weezed out. "Can't breathe!" Her sister immediately let go and shot her a sheepish smile. "Sorry," she says before grabbing Colette's bag. "Come on! We don't have all day." Colette rolled her eyes and followed her sisters path.
Once they came to a stop in front of Davina's car, Colette held her hand out towards her sister. "I'm broke." Davina gave her hand a dismisive wave. "I wasn't asking for money, I was asking for your keys!"
"Why do you need my keys?"
"So I can drive?" Davina gave her sister an insulted look, "I'm not that horrible of a driver!" Colette scoffed, "Yes you are!"
"No, I'm not!"
"You so are—"
"Hello beautiful humans!"
The familiar voice of Arthur Leclerc caused Davina to immediately shut the trunk of her car and make her way towards the driver's seat.
Arthur looked at Colette with a face that said, 'I didn't even say anything bad this time'. Colette just shrugged, "What are you doing here?" She asks. "Picking Charles up from the airport."
Colette let out a soft smile at the mention of Charles' name. "Let him know I said 'Hi'!" She gave the youngest Leclerc brother a small wave goodbye before heading to the passenger seat.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE THE audacity of that man." Colette nodded at her sisters words, face holding a disheartening expression. "You have no idea how hard I cried when I saw them together."
Davina clenched her jaw, "I cannot believe Roy would be that fucking—" she cut of her insult halfway knowing her words were not going to be nice. Colette sighed, rubbing her hands over her face.
"Well, at least you don't have to face Mom's horrible matchmaking skills alone—wait," Colette paused, noticing the change in her sisters expression but before she could press any further, their Mum and Dad had already walked through the door.
"There they are!" Their Dad exclaimed as he headed for the kitchen to place the grocery bags down. "My little angel!" Their Mum headed straight for Colette and wrapped her in a tight hug. "We've missed you so much."
"Not as much as I've missed you three." She mumbled. Their Mum, let go of her and let their Dad, take his daughter in for an even tighter hug. "Now I know where Vina gets her weird amount of strength from." She says in-between gasps. "Sorry, sweetheart." He says as he let's go of his daughter.
The family of four erupted in a fit of laughter, happy to have the nest full again.
"We hope you don't mind, Lettie—" Their Mum began to move towards the kitchen, Dad not far behind, "I invited the Leclerc's over for dinner. I know you wanted it to be the four if us tonight but Charles was so excited when I told him you were back that not inviting them felt wrong."
Coletted shrugged, "Charles is always welcome, you're gonna have to ask Davina about Arthur though."
Davina paused for a moment as though she had to force the words out. "Arthur's welcome too." The house had never been as silent as it was in that moment.
Her parents and Colette all turned towards Davina as though she had grown five heads.
"Who are you and what have you done with Davina?" Their Dad asked, concern lacing his voice.
Davina rolled her eyes, "You guy's are so dramatic!" She began to busy herself with the shopping and Colette narrowed her eyes at her sister. "Arthur and I are not children anymore. We can handle being in the presence of the other."
"Didn't you almost put him in a headlock last night?" Colette let out a loud cackle, "I need to know more about this!" Davina sighed, "Later. Can we just focus on the food for now instead of my childhood rivalry with our next door neighbor?"
Her family all let a out a synchronized 'yes' but Colette kept a close eye on her sister. Something about her behavior was off and she wasn't going to stop until she knew why.
